Things didn't turn out quite as planned - After the wounded had been loaded into the contamination bay the Squad had loaded up in the dropships. Priest was to be left behind to watch over and try to identify the two wounded. The man of the two being barely alive as they pulled him from the lifeboat.

During this a telex message was recieved.

*** Message

++ Emergency

++ Please assist

++ VIP secured. Engine compartment

++ 3 agents alive. 1 civilian + 1 VIP

++ Came from floor

++ Dragons. Acid blood.

++ Cant hold out much longer

++ They are coming

*** End of message ***

Lt Vincent barked out orders and the Marines carried the last pieces of equipment aboard which after they started helping eachother to climb into the MK35 Spacesuits. Getting the Smart Gun mounts to fit tightly onto the suit proofed to be very complicated, but after ten minutes of cursing and breaking nails they where finally fitted.

The APC backed out to enter the Dropship when disaster struck. Corporal Morrison currently helping Private Pyro with his suit was struck by the APC and fell, trapping his right leg between two crates twisting his knee badly.

Vincent decided that the incapacitated Morrison was to be left behind with Priest and help with the wounded. Bringing him along could endanger the mission as he was barely able to support on the leg.

The rest of the Marines loaded up into the APC - It was horribly cramped with the suits on and the Marines almost sat in eachothers laps.

The Dropship crews initiated the startup sequence. The ship entered the airlock with a hydraulic whine and a metallic clonk.

"Prepare to release on my mark...five...four...three...two...one...mark"

The sucking feeling as they plummeted towards the planetary below was overwhelming.

In his suit, Jacob felt trapped. He wasn't claustrophobic - he just would rather he had just his body armour on and his gun in his hand. Though, he'd trained for this and he was damn sure he'd carry it out too. Holding his gun - he voxed Nick

"Sir, you know I am capable of operating the APC's main guns...should there be trouble planetside when we get there - would it be nice for me to be operating them so I can blow the bejesus out of any opfors waiting for us...in ambush or whatever?"

In all honesty. Jacob didn't mind whether he was going to man the gun or just sit in the compartment, except he knew he'd not be crowded in in the main compartment of the APC - and if the doors opened and they received fire - they'd be cut to ribbons just sitting in an apc like that...ancient archive footage of landings at D-day back in the 20th century...surely warfare had progressed enough that precautions would be taken against people getting mown down before stepping foot on the battleground.

Sighing Jacob tapped his helmet 'the worst thing is I can't have a cigarette with this damn thing on...maybe I should've been run over - then at least I could smoke' he thought, reflecting on corporal Morrison 'at least it wasn't screaming eagle - he's looking like he knows how to handle situations'

Sitting back and closing his eyes Jacob awaited a reply from the sarge - and then planetfall.

James looked around at the rest of the marines making of the "Easy Eights." At this moment he knew things were really going to get dicey in a few. Corporal Morrison was not going with, which left 2nd Squad down a man from the get go. Squad 1 had done an admirable job in the search and contain portion of the lifeboats. He would buy all present a round of coffee, chocolate milk, and whatever they desired if everyone returned safe and sound. He tapped his mic, making sure it was keyed to 1st Squad's frequency. "Ok, listen up marines, In a few seconds we make land fall. When that APC's doors open, I want us setting up cover for the rest of the eights. As soon as the door is cracked I will take the right position. Jacob, I want you to cover the left. Green and Con, you guys have got the area facing forward."

Suddenly there was a quick dropping sensation as the ship was dropped into the upper atmosphere of the planet.
The sucking feeling as they plummeted towards the planetary below was overwhelming.

"As I was saying, we will cover the exiting of the rest of the platoon. Once we are out and Sarge has given us our orders we will follow through with them. Con, you are to remain in constant contact with Priest and the Lt. I will walk point, Ron, you will be second in line, Con you follow Ron, Jacob you have the tail position. If we keep our heads and make sure of what we are shooting at, we should all make it out of this alive. We give anyone or anything charging us three chances to respond to a vocal command to halt. If they fail to respond we shoot to incapacitate. If that doesn't stop them then we drop them in their tracks with a lethal round. I want all weapons keyed for single shots initially, if everything goes FUBAR, then we go full auto. You Jar Heads have any questions?

Ronald was sweating like a pig for no reason exept fear perhaps. The man was nervous, thinking about lizard spitting fire and could jump through the floor, his mind made up all kinds of things that could pop up from nowhere and then shook his head, "come on Ronald, its just gona be some crap things" he said to himself and then looked around at people "uhm sorry...".

Then he listened to everthing Eagle said and nodded. Then he raised his arm and asked his question when it got to be his turn to talk.

"Sir, does that mean I lead the group when it comes to movement? And why single shots sir? I think it would be safer for the group to have auto as soon we go out, if there are nonhuman lifeforms out there that can attack us I want to be able to defend myself as good as possible from start." THen he saluted quickly, waiting for his answers

"Ronald, if you are volunteering for point than let it be duly noted and I will consider it. However, I feel that as our Heavy Gunner, we need you where you can mop the floor, if things go bad and we need to fall back. So as far as leading the group that's a negatory. I want single shots initially so that we don't kill innocents with accidental fire. Single shots are a lot easier to control than three rounds firing at one time. When I jump out of the apv is we are underfire I will immediately give the order for full auto. If the Sarge disagrees then we will all go out with our weapons locked and loaded in full auto. Anyone else got any questions?"

Ronald nodded, the man had for once understood exactly what Eagle he said and he saluted a second time and after that sat silent for a little while before he raised his arm again and asked when he was told to.

"Sir, if we meet any alien lifeforms, what should we do?" Said Ronald, clearly nervous about meetings this alien, his mind full of the lizardlike dragons with firebreathing mouths.

The feel of the spacesuit hugging his body was oddly comforting to Nick, and bought back to him some of his childhood dreams about being an astronaut. It had been one of the things he'd always wanted to do, travelling in space, and part of the reason he had signed up with the Marines, but now wasn't the time to be daydreaming.

The whole situation on the planet was starting to sound a little crazy. Dragons? Acid Blood? Maybe the bio-hazard was some kind of hallucinogenic, but Nick didn't want to go into this situation thinking it was all some kind of mass hallucination being collectively suffered by the on planet survivors and get blindsided by what should have been a fever dream. The platoon was going in with their eyes wide open, and their weapons fully loaded.

Nick was opposite Lt Vincent in the interior of the cramped APC and could just see her face. She had a look of focused concentration on her face, and while Nick didn't want to break her concentration he knew he had to find out what was going to happen with second squad now that Cpl Morrison was injured.

"Lieutenant with Cpl Morrison injured, I think I should take over second squad, at least just for this mission. What's the plan once we get planet side? And what do you think of this talk of Dragons, do you think it's the bio-hazard or maybe their all suffering a mass hallucination?"

"Sir, if we meet any alien lifeforms, what should we do?" Said Ronald, clearly nervous about meetings this alien, his mind full of the lizardlike dragons with firebreathing mouths.
"Ron, like I stated earlier, if they don't respond to three vocal commands to cease then we open fire with full auto and let God and the Lt sort them out. I won't put you in any situation where you and the rest of the squad is in any more danger then we are trained to handle. When the Eights are finished with these cultists; they will know who we are and where we came from. I expect to return to the ship with a full complement of men in the 1st Squad. You three men are just as important to the USCM, as I am. We drink together; eat together; and we go to battle together. Once this battle is over I will personally see to it that each of you gets your favorite drink on me. Can I get a Hurrah, Semper Fi?"

"But..." Ronald stopped, thinking that there was no idea to ask more, he knew enough. Well not really but he would do well anyway he thought. He tapped his fingers against his lovely gun, thinking about Jacob and his killing counts, Ronald was happy he didnt ever remember the first guy he shot.

Soon his mind got interrupted at the words "Can I get a Hurrah, Semper Fi?" Ronald just stared at Eagle confused, the words Semper Fi didnt say much to him. The large men seemed as dumb as always, but he smiled at least.

Zarb's hearth was thumping and the thumping got faster and faster as they approached their destination. It was his first mission and a combat one at that. The suit seemed to fit just nice and luckily it was capable of self-cooling or he would be sweating buckets by now. Zarb felt bad about Corporal Morrison being hit by the APC while helping him to put the suit on. He wanted to attend to the corporal but was stopped as they were rushing for time and Priest could always help the corporal dress his wounds.

"Hmm, I wonder how do I bandage wounds or treat injury with this suit? The gloves feel kind of thick and surgery seems hard. What if I miss the area and cut the wrong artery or vein due to the thick gloves? I cannot feel the equipments and tools properly with this thick gloves," Zarb thought to himself.

A slow dawn of realisation crept over Jacob

"How the fuck am I going to put smiles on my body armour?"

Looking at the confusion on the newer squad member's faces he looked at them and simply said "you'll see...you'll see"

With the turbulence from entering the atmosphere having hit them, Nick was aware that he didn't have long before they were going in to pick up the survivors and find out what the heck was going on.

Second squad was seated near himself and Lt Vincent, and he turned to face them in the cramped confines of the APC.

"Ok marines, with Cpl Morrison out of this mission I'll be leading second squad. Generally Cpl Morrison would be assigned Pvt Pyro as his second for his gun team, I'm changing that though. Pfc Bojan you'll be working with Pvt Pyro and Pfc Gagarin you're with me."

"Pvt Pyro, Pfc Bojan has more experience in actual combat than you, so when he says something listen to it. Remember Pyro your first job is to keep your squad mates alive and in this case the best way of doing that is to make sure you keep your eyes open and shoot straight if we come into contact with enemy forces. If someone gets injured wait until we secure the area or break contact before working on them. Just get them stable and once we're secure that's when you start patching them up properly."

"Bojan you asked me what conditions are gonna be like planet side, and I was to busy getting our supplies loaded to answer you, but basically we're wearing the suits cause it sounds like the planet ain't habitable for human kind without some serious terraforming."

"Once we are down we are going to move pretty quickly to secure the VIP and the rest of the survivors, not quickly enough that we walk into any traps any survivng cultists might have set upthough, so you and Pvt Pyro will have to watch each others backs. You guys will be leading the way after first squad, they'll be going in first, and me and Pfc Gargarin will be making sure our exit is clear. Any questions?"

Nick listened to L Cpl Screaming Eagle set out his orders for first squad and waited for him to finish before he spoke to the whole platoon.

"Ok marines. We are almost dirtside so we'll go over the plan. Once the dropship delivers us to the landing point we are gonna drive the APC to the crash site, Smiles you're on the guns but don't shoot anything unless you really have to!" Nick grinned at Pfc Honeysett whilst he was saying that.

"Once we're at the crash site first squad will lead the way and second squad will follow. On the way out second will lead and first will follow. First squad is to find an entry point into the ship. Once inside our priority is to get to the VIP and the rest of the survivors so we will move to secure them first. After that we can either sweep the ship to find any other survivors while eliminating cultists or we'll escort the survivors back to our ship, depending on what the LT decides. I don't know what the heck all this talk about 'dragons' is but until we actually see one of these 'dragons' we are gonna treat them as unconfirmed enemies."

"L Cpl Screaming Eagles orders concerning engagement are a good idea, however I'm going to change them slightly. Once we are in contact with an unknown target you are to identify yourself as a US Colonial Marine then give them two verbal orders to lie down. If they are holding a weapon order them to drop it and lie face down. If they do not respond after the second warning, start to point their weapon at you or start moving in your direction you are to shoot them."

Turning to Lt Vincent, Nick made eye contact and nodded to the rest of the platoon.

"Sir do you have anything to add?"

James listened to the sarge's amendment to his orders and nodded his head, the advice was sound and was only a minor adjustment to his and actually made him feel a little better about leading the 2nd Squad into battle. He looked around at the other marines crammed into the apc with him. All eyes had turned to the Lt to see if she had anything further to add to the Sarge's orders.

"Sir do you have anything to add?"
Eileen twisted awkwardly in her seat, turning as much as the to face the marines, "Sergeant Steel's covered the rules of engagement. Just remember to stay focused on the mission, we get to the survivors and get out again. Stick to your orders, and don't get distracted," she added, turning a meaningful look on Pyro.

"It sounds strange, but we've now had two separate survivors refer to something coming through the floors, so keep alert for activity there."

Relaxing back in her seat, Eileen nodded to Steel, "I'll be going in with second squad with you."

Pfc Bojan nodded in agreement to what Sgt Steel said; it was sound and simple. He glanced over his equipment again, turned to Pvt Pyro and said, "If you dont know what your supposed to be doing, copy someone who looks like they do until you can ask someone, better that than not doing anything.".

Bojan was uncertain of being paired with Pyro, he could see that the private had good intentions, but green troops against an unidentified enemy was not a good mix in Bojan's view.

"Sergeant, do i have the squad's motion tracker?, asked Bojan
