Turn 5: Operations

Post by Corporal Hicks » Sun Apr 03, 2016 11:14 pm

Stepping cautiously around the hideous corpse of the creature, the marines continue down the hallway. Eventually they reach Operations without any more enemy contact. The door opens at the push of a button and they enter. Looking around the room they see a few tables knocked over and a spattering of blood on the floor. After a thorough search they find no contacts.

The room has several long desks with terminals attached to them. The desks are unpainted metal, welded to the metal floor. The terminals are dormant as they have not been used in some time. Several lights are on, with one flickering. There are two doors to the room, one on either side.

The situation in the hanger is stable for now.

Once it was clear the room was secure, Mark bushed by the rest of the team and made a beeline for the consoles. He selected one on the closest side, dropping his bag in the chair next to it. Sitting down, he examined the console. There was a fair chance that if they were overtaken by sickness quickly, they may not have taken the time to lock up the digital infrastructure. Given how suddenly abandoned everything else had looked so far, it was worth a shot. If this initial attempts to access the computer were thwarted, however, that's when the USCM computer system came out.

Terence looks around the rest of the squad and asks "Anybody else got an erection? Do you think that's normal or should I see the medic when we get back to the ship?"

"Maybe it's just a side effect of being in close contact with one of those things," Clint replied back at Terrence as they watched Mark working away at the computer terminal hoping they could find out what was going on.

How long has this place been in this condition? Clint thought to himself as he looked around noticing the dust that had accumulated on the desk. He turned to face one of the doors as they waited.

Colson looks sideways at Terence's comment. "I'm a medic, not a psyc doc. Best keep it in your trousers."

As the rest of the platoon filtered in Colson hung back near the door and kept an eye on the hallway they came in by.

"And anyway, keep your head in the game if don't want your first mission to be your last. The Eights this is my third, and nothing has been by the numbers yet."

Giosso quickly hacked through the simple defenses of the console. He found a hoard of data, mostly relating to the operations of various parts of the facility. He did notice one anomaly which he began to investigate. It appeared as if someone or something was watching them remotely.

The rest of the Eights had now made their way to Operations. Eric Roberts had been knocked out with morphine and left isolated on the dropship for the pilots to keep an eye on.

Samantha had stayed with Eric; feeling helpless and terrified and frustrated all at the same time. Helpless that one of her marines was in a situation where she could nothing to help him; terrified that she might have to kill him if he 'metamorphisized' or whatever into a monster and frustrated at the whole situation.

Taking some deep breaths after Roberts had been knocked out; she moved over to Giosso and said; "Whadya got Mark; anything about whatever insanity is happening here?"

"Nothing stands out." Mark said as he skimmed and scrolled through the mass of nestled folders and data files. "At least not in the data I can find here. Though…." He paused for a moment, checking something quickly before continuing, "Ok, that's kind of odd. It looks like some-one else is accessing the security systems right now as well. Let me see if I can figure out where they're accessing it from…" The tech trailed off in in the sound of furious typing.
