Turn 9 (Dropship)

Post by Corporal Hicks » Tue Jun 28, 2016 8:38 pm

The Cheyenne dropship was still hovering in the hangar. Private Reed was scanning for any information that could be used to help the marines. Pope sat in the APC onboard, running tests on their blood and keeping an eye on the monitors. Lance Corporal Roberts was a little more awake now, and he limped to Pope and looked over his shoulder. "You should really lay down," said the synthetic in his usual steady voice. "What's going on?" asked Roberts, without addressing Pope's comment.

Reed stretched his jaw forward when he got a final read. He tried to think of how to put the data into words, but he was not the most optimistic about the data that he was reading out.

”Got good new and bad news, sky cap.” Reed said not looking up from his console. ”Good news is that I got a solid enough read to know that most of the facility is straight north from the hangar… so we can at least tell ‘the grounders’ that.” Reed cocked his head to the side. ”The bad news is that something’s blocking most of my read out. Something external. Might be some of the geography of this rock playing funky with the systems.”

He continued to try to fix the system to be more specific but he did not have a lot of hope. ”So we staying or going around to blow out some walls?”

Reed did not mind either case. Their hover the hangar suited him fairly well.

"Alright Reed, go ahead and relay that information to the Lt, maybe it will help them with whatever they're doing." Joanna advised the warrant officer. She considered his question about staying or going and noticed that some people were coming back into the hangar area. "Well love, maybe they're ready to go, there a few lads coming on out of the corridor now" She gently set the Cheyenne down to the ground, leaving the turbines running in case they need to make a quick exit. She checked to see if the dropship was able to patch into the facility's network, or if she might need to run a hard line. "How's our passengers?" she turned back over her shoulder to look at Reed.

Joanna then started thinking to herself about where they might be off to next. "Giosso, can you transmit me the coding to access the hangar's exterior airlock in case we need to lift out of here in a hurry. I do pretty decent with coding and hacking myself."

Reed nodded. ”Here’s hoping right.” He hoped that they would be leaving any time. Something about the place they were in gave him the creeps. He made the call out to the Platoon Lieutenant about their findings. ”Eight’s Leader, Eight’s Leader. This is Drop Shop. We’re transmitting readouts of the facility to you now.” Reed sent the information to the Motion Trackers so that they could widen their range and read the whole facility as he saw it.

When he was asked about the condition of their living cargo he chuckled. ”Conscious it sounds like.” Reed mentioned. ”I’ll drop ramp at the back for the new arrivals and check.”

Reed then went to the back and opened the ramp for the new arrivals and got a look at the now conscious Roberts.

PFC Mark Giosso wrote:"Dropship, are you ready to receive?" he called over the Comm. Once he got the ok, he continued. "Code is: Alpha-Charlie-Niner-Zero-Zero-Romeo-Seven-Six-Eight-Eight-Bravo-Tango."
"Copy that, Reed," came the voice of the Lieutenant in his ear. As he made his way back to open the ramp, Roberts limped to the door of the APC, leaning heavily against it. Roberts nodded to the young co-pilot. Once the ramp was open, Sergeant Forney and two other marines came aboard. "We need some sentry guns," he said off-hand. The three of them grabbed two sentry gun crates and left as quickly as they came. As Forney was walking out, he jabbed a finger into Reed's chest. "Don't forget about us."

Joanna listened to Giosso give off the code for the exterior airlock and copied it into the dropship's computer so it would be ready to activate as needed. She had the ship set back down with the turbines still idling. She ducked out of the cockpit area giving a voice command to the computer Point defense system on automated. She found Reed Roberts and several other marines in the middle of offloading several large crates that she recognized as sentry guns from the size and shape. You lads need any help?" She called as she walked towards the group.

Sergeant Forney and his marines walked down the ramp, ignoring the pilot's question. The dropship crew watched them lug the crates across the hangar. Forney took one man toward First Squad's position, and the other man went toward Second Squad. They heard Boothe's voice audibly as he crouched over one of the prisoners, "Uh, guys? What the fuck-"
The wailing, robotic sound of warning claxons filled the hangar. Several red, flashing lights changed the atmosphere of the room and instantly put them all in a state of emergency. A calm, female voice echoed above the claxons.

"Warning. Emergency override in effect. Hangar doors opening. Please exit the hangar immediately and seal all exits. Warning. Emergency override in effect. Hangar doors opening."

The marines dropped the sentry guns where they stood, hesitating for a few seconds while their minds worked furiously on an escape plan. Private Boothe gave a blood-curdling scream over the din of the claxons. They could see him running in the general direction of the dropship. The unconscious security guard was standing, blood pouring from his crippled leg. He howled with a piercing, inhuman scream, still louder than anything they had yet heard. He charged madly at Sergeant Forney and his marine. The whining fire of a pulse rifle sounded in answer. The lone marine on the west side of the hangar took off running toward Second Squad's position.

Reed was at a loss for what was going on. He was just helping with some of the work being done out back when suddenly he heard screaming, saw running, and heard alarms. For a moment he did not know exactly what was going on. Part of him thought this might be the moment to draw his pistol, but he had never fired a small arm in combat, so he was not sure if that was the appropriate response.

But when the sound came through about the hanger doors opening, he knew that at the very least it would be his job to try to remotely get control of the doors, or at least make sure the dropship was ready to be sealed before they all got sucked into space.

"Oh, Crap!" Reed yelled, immediately running to get to his chair at the Copilot seat.

When he slammed down in the chair he called out what he was doing. "Prepping for vacuum!" He said, knowing that saving their ship was more important then the more impossible task of getting past an emergency override on a hanger door.

He of course was more than open to suggestions from the pilot.

Joanna listened intently to the klaxon as she watched the unfolding chaos ahead of her. She rushed back up to the cockpit, telling the synthetic to get the APC rolled off the ramp so they could get airborne. Reed had just jumped into his seat when she entered the cockpit door. "Let's get this baby ready to fight Reed" she added while harnessing herself into the pilot's seat.

She pulled the stick back seeing the APC roll out of the front of the dropship. She eyed the large monster looking wolfman thing and lined up the chaingun. She looked to make sure that the other marines would not show in the line of fire. She thumbed off the safety switch and pressed the fire button, feeling the chaingun offload a mix of armor piercing and incendiary armor piercing. "Reed close up the barn door please".

Eric Roberts pulled out his pistol and covered the ramp, despite how little good it could do. Private Salazar Boothe sprinted up the ramp so fast that he tripped and rolled once he was on-board. A few moments later, the ramp raised on Reed's accord. The overlapping sounds of the hangar became muffled and almost imperceptible when the door shut.

The dropship gradually took off, then turned around to face the conflict in the hangar. Jones was ready to pull the trigger, but the guard had already closed the distance on one of the marines and was grappling with him. The red light was flashing in the windshield of the ship, casting a red light on the faces of the flight crew.

(OOC: The dropship can fly fine with the APC in it, I couldn't see any reason for it to be in the hangar once the atmosphere is gone. If I'm missing something please correct me. Don't worry, there will be action soon.)

"Ramp Closed." Reed announced looking over the situation that was in front of them. The Hanger was still opening, the red flashing light said that much. But there was someone out in the hanger fighting a marine. Reed didn't think he had much of a chance, but from where he sat there was virtually nothing that he could do. He just leaned back in his chair, glancing down at a few of the read outs, but then back ahead to see the two fighting in the hanger.

"Uh... you got the gun..." Reed said, noting that taking a shot would be the pilots call, and not his from where he sat.
