June 7, 2189
Location: Outer Veil, Neroid Sector, Near Former Penal Labor Colony
Mission Time: 09:23:02
End-Of-Turn: 30.05.2019

<Inside the Merc Ship>
Sgt Morse and PFC Honeysett bought the necessary time for PFC Grisham to get his smartgun online again, firing short controlled bursts with their pulse rifles towards the Xeno. In no time the smartgun's auto-tracking system took care of the alien afterwards. After investigating the other side of the torn-out door carefully, a quick inspection revealed a small cargo hold, containing twelve roughly human-sized boxes with frozen xenomorph warriors inside. Three of thes3e boxes seemed to have malfunctioned, allowing the nasty critters an easy escape through a now torn-open emergency escape hatch. The other nine boxes seem to be intact.
<Tag Morse, Honeysett, Grisham>

<Outside of the Merc Ship>
The Dawgs ground troopers took care of the charging xeno and the second xeno, who tried to prolong its rampart, after finishing off the two fleeing mercenaries. Suddenly the stakes were raised by an unknown and new player at the table. A person, calling himself Quinn, made radio contact with the team.

<Inside the Dawg's APC>
Lt Harper and Bishop put Quinn's radio signal into the on-board computer and started a pattern recognition algorithm of his voice sound patterns. Shortly after starting, a positive ID came back, identifiying Corporal Quinn.

"Romeo Three, Lt Harper speaking, i got a positive identification for you, Corporal Quinn. Besides the fact, that you shouldn't be here on this shit-pile of a godforsaken rock, we save the formal introductions and explainings for later. Just confirm one thing: Master-Sergerant Harper and Sergeants Hoops and Batell are with you?
<Tag Quinn>

Sergeant-Major Sykes, form up at the Dawgs at the colony's entrance and prepare for entering.
<Tag Sykes>

Quinn, catch up with our ground troopers there.
<Tag Quinn>

Bishop, drive the APC to the colony's entrance and activate the front and top cannons, just in case.

Bishop: Yes, Sir."

Bishop acknowledged, activated the APC's armament and the APC rumpled forward. During a few milliseconds the automatic load-sequences readied the front autocannon and the top-mounted EMP-weapon, charging it. Arriving at the colonie's entrance, the APC came to a halt.

Sykes was more than pleased with the efficiency of his men up to this point. They had calmly and methodically eradicated anything and everything in their way without a single serious casualty.

"Okay Dawgs, assemble to breach the facility at the main entrance! Move it, people!" While the marines assembled, Sykes made his way back to the ditch where Sarafian got hit. Not far from the blood and discarded gear he found the SADAR anti-tank rocket. It may not have any further use, but Danny had learned to be prepared for anything. Either way, it was an expensive piece of gear. He strapped it over his shoulder.

"Corporal Pushkin, See if that door is locked. If it is, hack through it." He clicked on his radio, "Corporal Quinn, if you have any information regarding the door or the complex, please tell it to me now.
<Tag Pushkin and Quinn>

"Screaming Eagle, take Morse, Pitt, and Sarafian. Have your men cover Pushkin and breach the entrance when it's open."
<Tag Eagle, Morse, Pitt, Sarafian>

"Honeysett and Grisham, stay back here with me. We're in reserve."

Quinn had moved off the rooftop with a little more haste than was strictly called for, but he also had two people on his hands that needed more complex medical attention than even what his skills could provide. Even so, he was fairly sure that augmetics would be in those Marines’ future. Getting to the ladder access, he gripped the sides of the rails and braced his boots against the same. He slid down rapidly, hitting the bottom of the ladder well with jarring force and a THUD-BWAM as the deck plates shuddered against the impact. Attempting to ignore the jarring pain in his feet and legs, Sixtus hefted his rifle to the high ready and moved towards the front gate.
"Romeo Three, Lt Harper speaking, i got a positive identification for you, Corporal Quinn. Besides the fact, that you shouldn't be here on this shit-pile of a godforsaken rock, we save the formal introductions and explainings for later. Just confirm one thing: Master-Sergerant Harper and Sergeants Hoops and Batell are with you?”
”Romeos Two, Four and Actual are on site but not presently with me. Romeos Two and Four are incapacitated and require immediate MEDEVAC.”
”Corporal Quinn, if you have any information regarding the door or the complex, please tell it to me now.”
Quinn tapped his throat microphone. ”Former penal colony, abandoned as far as I’m aware. I think the bugs got to them. Door will have high security protocols, as does the entire facility given what it was intended to do. I’ll find a way to help.”

Recalling random parts of information from his brain from his education and the briefing he was given, this place required access control from multiple hubs with a central security station overseeing the entire facility alongside access protocols. Getting in would be difficult under normal circumstances. But not many secure facilities assumed that inmates had access to a portable welder...

Finding the central security hub was easy enough, but there were multiple doors that had to be cut through. In the meantime, a status report to MSgt Harper was due. Pulling out the welder, Quinn shut his left eye and darkened the eyepiece as he lit the torch and began cutting through where the central lock should be.

”Romeo Actual, Romeo Three. Reinforcements have arrived, got a Marine team at the door. Moving to allow access.”

"Aye aye sir" Karl acknowledged. He moved up to tap Screaming Eagle on the back, letting him know he was formed up ready to breach.

He watched the new comer hacking at the door with a welding torch and thought briefly about the breaching charges he'd been lugging around in his pack on a now bummed and painful shoulder. 'next time darlings' he thought to himself, smiling as he imagined the sort of carnage he could get up to if he reported them used.

The roar of the M56 Smartgun and the M41A Pulse Rifles were an impressive and intimidating sound. It rattled at the ear drums and the heat made ones skin stand on edge as every fiber of one's being could sense the horrible machinery at its killing work. There were few things in the galaxy that could stand up to a full spray of caseless rounds, and the only real flaw to the weapons was human error behind them. Fortunately the Marines were the most highly trained force in the stars to use them, and they were deployed with purpose of using them freely.

The small skirmish may have ended with the Smartgun blast, but there was no telling what may have come next. The Xenomorph lay dead on the ground, acid sprayed all around as expected, which would cool down very shortly. That was what was counted on and would be considered before stepping over the miserable corpse.

"All call, Xeno engaged and destroyed." Morse called out. "I say again, Xeno engaged and destroyed."

They proceeded further to view a small cargobay with a cargo that left Morse entirely uneasy. They were cryotubes, some empty, but most full, with more Xenomorphs. It filled ones head with questions. How did this happen? Why was this done? What was the purpose of the creatures? Who was responsible for this? Who wanted this done in the first place?

These were all questions that Morse would never get an answer to, but there was one question in particular that he did have a great interest in... and one that would come with a very specific verdict.

"Morse, with breaching team." Morse identified himself. "I'm lookin' at a near a dozen freezers that are full of Xeno warriors... that's a bunch of frozen bugs n' they look like they're still living." Morse spoke as plainly as he could. "Don't know who done it, don't know why." He commented as he saw no purpose to it, but knew what had to be done. "Requestin' permission to euthanize the bugs." Morse asked, but he was already preparing to do so.

Though he was prepared to end these creatures, he knew that this could still be a trap or a part of a more sinister plan, and he would not fall victim to it. He kept his pulse rifle at the ready.

the freezers look very solid, you assume, that a lot of pulse rifle rounds would be needed, in order to kill the biological cargo. Two better options come to your mind:
(1) flamethrowers
(2) explosives

Quinn double clicked his radio in affirmation so as not to take up needless time. He flicked his IR goggle down, set it to high-light emission and closed his other eye as he sparked up the torch of his portable welder.

”Shit.” Quinn muttered under his breath. Two wounded Marines and one active against xenos in close quarters was a fast way for the Marines to get dead. He tapped his radio over to the Dawgs frequency. ”Be advised, xenos in the complex. Romeo Team has hard contact.”

He finished cutting through the door to the main security hub, put the tool away and readied his rifle before opening the door. What greeted him was an abattoir. The first thing he noticed was the darkness of the room and the ruddy tang of blood on the air. Banks of screens were splashed, the dull green of the displays glowing softly through the partially-dried blood. Quinn flicked his monocle up to give himself a full view since Xenos didn’t show up on infrared.

After quickly clearing the room, Sixtus let his rifle hang on it’s sling and moved to the computer banks. The complex was currently on lockdown, which is why the outer gate was closed. And here in the main security center would be a way to open up the entire complex. Sixtus wiped screen after screen before finding the main control console. Fortunately, the system and user interface controlling the prison security systems were relatively simple, since prison guards weren’t always the most highly educated. Quinn searched through the menus, trying to find the command that would lift the complex-wide lockdown. Or at least open the front door.

Danny Sykes gritted his teeth impatiently. He wasn't going to put all his eggs in one basket. He turned off his mic and motioned to Pushkin. "Corporal, we're not waiting for him. See if you can't get that door open!" It was nothing personal, but he didn't know Quinn and he wanted that door open now.
<Tag Pushkin>

"Sarafian, do you want to help Morse blow up some bugs?" In their elite unit he didn't feel the need to issue orders every time. Each marine knew his or her job well enough.
<Tag Sarafian if you want>

Danny turned to Honeysett and Grisham, feeling almost human at the moment. "Is this what they said the Corps would be like? Freezing our asses off on some rock?" He grinned, "Nah, I think this is going pretty well. What do you think?"

<Quinn's Actions>

Quinn surveyed after a brief inspection, as the prison was shut down long ago, the former high-tech security systems were out of maintenance and most of them were not funtional any more. The door controls were not working anymore. But, some of the internal cameras were still online. Thus, Quinn could track and see the position of Harper, Patel and Hoops. They went all-in and played the hit-and-run game, fighting desperately their way back to the entrance with Xenos on their tail. Quinn could also see, that a three Xenos went another way around the three marines, trying to cut the route off and trying to preventing them from escaping into last tunnel to the entrance chamber.
<Tag Quinn>

<Morse and Sarafian's Actions (GM Decision)>
Morse and Sarafian dealt with the Xeno Cryopods by blowing them up with demolition charges.

<Pushkin's Action>
Pushkin nodded and pulled out his hacking kit. He made an attempt to get through the door's security.
-> the hack was successful and the door opened up
</GM Section>

The strike team entered the entrance chamber. They could see Quinn in an elevated control room, staring at some monitors. From a far distance, the familiar sound of pulse rifle fire bursts could be heard. The entrance chamber was roughly rectangular, with a now opened door to the outside world, where the Dawgs just entered, and another formerly heavy security door, which now was opened and teared down and worn out by time and insufficient maintenance. This was where the pulse rifle sounds came from.

Danny nodded casually. "Well, we're still here, so I'd say we're doing pretty good," he replied in a casual, breathless tone.
<Tag Grisham>

Sykes watched the door slide open, and Screaming Eagle's team clear the area. He heard the distant gunfire and decided to make a bold move. "Eagle, Pitt, stay here and secure this entrance. Morse and Sarafian should catch up with us soon."
<Tag Eagle, Pitt>

"Everyone else with me! Ditch the cold weather gear, we need to move fast! We don't have much time. Grisham, take point with the smart-gun." He was going to take a small squad and rush toward the sound of gunfire in an attempt to save the injured marines below.
<Tag Grisham, Honeysett, Pushkin>

As Sykes threw down the SADAR rocket and stripped off his snow-ghillie-suit, he radioed Quinn. "Quinn, link up with us as soon as possible. Keep me updated."

The tracker is getting lit up, three different clean signals:

Signal 1: three slow moving blips, movement is towards your position, range about 100 meter, classification: friendly

Signal 2: multiple moving blips on the tail of Signal 1, classification: hostile

Signal 3: multiple fast moving blips, flanking Signal 1 and 2, classification: hostile
