Turn 4 Recon squad

Post by Nick » Sat Jan 06, 2007 10:02 pm

Date: 17th August, 2080AD, 2100 UT
Location: Barnard's Star, PT-554 (In Bush)
Operation: Training Op
Mission timer: 03:25:00

Suddenly a distant whine could be heard over the rainfall. The whine raised in crescendo rapidly and moments later a large metal body blurred past just 50 feet over the canopy. A thunderous roar followed as the Dropship hurried out of sight towards the east.

The Recon squad assumed it was the Rifle squad and resumed their work to clear out the sentry gun they had found. They circled it and approached it from behind to knock it out.

Half way there they heard a similar sound as before - But this time, not one but two black painted dropships hurried past them in rapid succesion with a thunderous roar.

Dar watched the second and third dropships... then looked at Eagle and then up as if to say "what the frack?"... but didn't bother with radio as they had all seen it and had the same questions. Dar's tingling was still there, even as they knocked out the sentry gun... something was wrong... and he was going to keep on his toes, so everyone in the squad kept their toes intact. Dar waited for the specialists to clear the gun, and went back to watching ahead... where they were likely going next...

James watched the skies and listened intently as if he could hear the sound of his fellow company mates dropping through brush from over head. He remembered fondly that first day of waking up in charge of 1st Squad and the attitudes that were presented to his hard balled approach. Hell he was new to the unit and new to being in charge. Hopefully Con or Green would bust Jacobs’ balls as much as the he and Green had busted his originally.

With fingers doing his talking for him he informed the Squad that they were going to try and disarm the sensor, but not the gun. “Too much tampering and we are going to find ourselves being known. Yes the enemy knows we are coming because this is a training mission, but they don’t know the when, where, or how. So I want Bojan and Bob to do the work on the gun, their knowledge of weapons is superior to mine and Dar’s. (OOC: When speaking with your fingers names are okay ;)) So let’s move out boys and be careful. â€

[quote]“Papa Bravo, we have a further situation developing here. Shortly after you guys passed over head, two black painted dropships roared past in your wake. Watch your six o’clock! We are in route to link up with you. Suggest you hold your ground and set up a defensive perimeter until we can all link up and discuss this further without fear of having our plans overheard. This is November Five-Five Out!â€

Eileen shook her head as the message came in from Eagle, "Alright, that's enough surprises. November Five Five, the situations a little more complicated than that. We've been unable to make radio contact with field HQ, I want some answers before we continue."
"Roger that Papa Bravo. What are our orders from this point forward?"
"November Five Five, I want you to take that tower. Disarm any sentry guns, take out any defenders. They may be able to confirm this is part of the exercise too. Either way, take that tower and give me an overview of the surrounding area."

"Roger that Papa Bravo. Will do." James turned around to his wet, muddy, and disturbed group of men. He let out an audible sigh. "Okay men, here is the situation. We have got to get each and everyone of us into that tower." He pointed in the towers direction. "So far we know of two things. One, there has been at least one sentry gun with live ammo, bound to be more. Two, somebody ain't playing nice and we are going to take hostage the twelve men that are supposed to be guarding the tower. I want everyone to put in your live ammo. Set your pulse rifles to single shots because we have limited ammunition. We don't shoot unless shot at and then I want disabling shots. These are our brothers in arms we are talking about. We will all continue in our current walking order. When we get closer to the tower we will take to the trees. I want us to scope the site as quickly and efficiently as possible. Any questions?"

"Let's do it", was Dar's simple response. He loaded his live ammo quickly, and then waited for everyone to finish prep before following Eagle, how on point, towards the tower. Dar's gut was telling him something was definitely wrong, but at this point everyone was already thinking that way... so he let it alone. Still... something smelled very VERY wrong...
