Turn 1 - Briefing

Post by Nick » Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:56 pm

Date: November 31st, 2080AD
Location: Firebase Alpha, USCM Hq, Briefing room.

The tent was roughly twenty meters across. Simple tent chairs stood in four rows facing the short end wall of the square tent.

Seated in the chairs where over twenty marines from the 8th and 9th platoon of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Regiment, 1st Company. Some had been on Gateway before, some was scarred veterans of many missions while others uniforms was crisp and clean. They had no idea why they had been called together here, just that something big was up...something that required two platoons. The anticipation was thick in the air.

A few more marines strolled in and took their seats. Still almost ten minutes before briefing was scheduled to start.

OOC: Due to a misunderstanding between me and Pale Rider the setting is Zenus Vier and Firebase Alpha not Gateway station. Sorry for the confusion.

Turn 1 - Briefing

Sitting in one of the unoccupied desks in front of his squad his stuff set up down front with the rest of the officers. He looks and nods to the others in his and the other platoon. Most of them he served with on that crazy training mission that gave him his scar. "Ok squad this is just like any other mission briefing. You don't understand something or want clarification just ask. If they try to light you up for it don't worry I'll take the brunt of it. If any of the guys in 8th offer advice I would take it. These guys have been around the galaxy a few times. If they give you shit well I leave that up to you guys how to react." Putting his unlit cigar back in his mouth he looks towards the front. "I have no idea what going on to be honest so I am pretty much getting the heads up with you. After the meeting I want you guys to get whatever equipment we are getting issued and get out by our APC for perhaps a follow up meeting. More than likely we are going to be mules on this one too. You guys know by now I prefer being prepared than being repaired." With that he looks over his squad gives Khan and Konterran slaps on the knees as he gets up. Moving down to the front of the room he sits back down in his seat and waits for the briefing.

Khan entered the room and gave it a quick once over before piercing the silence. He saw a few people talking, and what looked like Gavin Jones taking a seat.

Turn 1 - Briefing

Post by Pale Rider » Thu Apr 26, 2007 9:58 pm

Date: November 28th, 2080AD
Location: Gateway station, USCM Hq, Briefing room.

Realizing that the Marines of the Delta Dogs were up against something far larger than they could handle alone, Lt. Thomas Morrison raced his marines back through the burning tunnels and back out into fresh clean air above. They rushed out of the tunnel entrance in time to see one of the APCs come tearing over the hill and screaming to halt mere centimeters away from slamming into its counterpart.

A scream could be heard echoing in the rapidly chilling air, it is a cry of out rage laced with mortified terror, the scream is suddenly joined by the staccato punctuation of the rapid firing Smartgun. Racing around in the direction of the sounds the marines are greeted with the sight of Private First Class Ronald Green blazing away at a small stream of alien life forms, the same as those that had greeted them in the engine room, facehuggers. Joining in with his fire the marines of the Delta Dogs rapidly exterminated the alien scum.

Not wasting any more words than necessary the marines are quickly loaded on the APCs and a tactical retreat is enacted. Radioing in the coordinates to the synthetic human Abbott, the location for the entrance is logged and loaded onto the marine’s local database. The Marines race back northward, to return to the capital city of Hesseneu.

Abbott has already contacted General Jennings of the USCM informing him of the situation. Orders are quickly sent out to the nearest unit in the vicinity, as luck would have it the call is answered by Priest of the Easy Eights. The Eights had exchanged fire with the Pirates of Lambda Serpentis IV. The surprisingly advanced weaponry of the pirates had caused the battle to be rather one sided. Of course the lay of the land, the weather, and a few lucky shots had ended their mission prematurely. LT Eileen Vincent was rendered incapable of providing active leadership and as a result would be confined to the USS Costaguana. PVT’s Skellen and Bren had each suffered fatal injuries and were shipped back home in their body bags. While on board the USS Costaguana, Lt. Vincent would coordinate ground attacks and the additional incoming Marines who would be replacing the casualties.

The powers that be felt that the Zenus Vier mission pulled priority over the current mission against the Pirates of Lambda Serpentis IV. The encounter with the Xenomorphs required further investigation.

The Delta Dogs were to erect a forward observation base and
refrain from making any further contact with the xenomorphic life forms. Three days ago the two missing militia men had shown back up at the doors of the observation post with the sole survivor of the Kreutz Farm attack, Lili Kreutz. Two days ago Easy Eights had arrived with supplies and a four man team of combat engineers. With the aid of the Combat Engineers the Forward Observation Post had been transformed into Firehouse Alpha.

Today the Marines of the Easy Eights and Delta Dogs will be briefed on their mission.

Con lay, spread out over four chairs looking up at the ceiling and quietly humming to himself. Suddenly he jumped up and walked over to Honeysett.
"Whats up cancer breath?" He said smiling "Got a ciggie for a brother?"

Private Eric Roberts walked into the room, behind another marine. From the glimpse he’d had of the man, he looked strong, and unkempt. Eric was the opposite. His uniform was ironed only hours before, and his hat was on perfectly straight. He took the door for the man, who seemed not to notice him. He followed the man in, until he stopped suddenly to talk to another marine.

Angie moved slowly and oblivious to the marines coming and going as she skimmed over the two pages letter in her hands. Her grandfather had been writing to her a lot lately, sending news of her brother and father. 'Dad dearest' was out of prison again and big brother was on his way in. Some things never changed.

She smiled at little remembering the last time the family was together, running away from Colonial police at the LV-598's port. They almost made it back to their ship, the Aurora. Angie's father still tried to resist but there was little to be done. Sometimes Angie wondered what her life would've turned out to be if they had made it. Most likely, no Colonial marines...and the idea sounded somewhat weird. Angie shook her head lightly and folded the letter before tucking inside the pocket of her pants. She made a mental note to answer her grandfather and ease his mind a bit. He still worried too much about her but Angie kept postponing sending him anything. She would have to make an effort to change that. He deserved more than her silence.

The marine stopped outside the large tent and checked her orders again just to make sure she wasn't invading someone else' meeting. Angie had arrived at Firebase Alpha with her regiment two days ago after a mission and today she found out someone had decided she would serve the Corps better by joining the 2nd Regiment's "Easy Eights" platoon. It really didn't matter to her the regiment or platoon as long as she could do her job. Sure, she'd miss some of her buddies but life was like that. Things changed and people had to adjust.

Angie put the orders back into her pocket with her letter and walked in the tent. She looked around as she made her way to one of last empty seats on the back row but no face's caught her eyes. It looked like she didn't know anyone in there. Angie sat down, leaned back on her seat and waited until someone with a higher pay grade showed up to tell them what exactly was going on.

Having looked up to see who came in the door, Eric Roberts put the Bible back in his pocket, having barely read at all, and pulled out the roster he’d been given. It looked as if the girl who’d just come in was Angela Hawkins, the medic from his squad. He decided to go talk to her, because it never hurts to be friends with the person who could be saving your life later. It was his usual worst case scenario attitude. He put the roster back in his pocket and walked back to the back row and extended his hand for a handshake. “Eric Roberts. I’m your smartgunner.â€

"Are you Catholic, Eric? Or just religious and not affiliated with any religion in special?"
“I’m actually Lutheran. I’m not much for that whole intolerance idea either, so don’t worry about it. I think it’s through acts you go to Heaven. Not to preach though,â€

Ronald Green stepped into the room and scratched his red burning hair, his green kind eyes studied the room and he sighed when he had to see alot of new faces, he wondered why they just couldnt stick to the same guys. Softly sits down in many of the seats, studying the woman and the priesty guy and shruged. God... Biggest bullshit in the galaxy thought Ronald for himself while he fingered collar on his shirt.
