"Yes, Boss can we get a rifle for Private Altair so he looks more the part of a marine? Also requesting flamers and sentry guns for this mission. The sentry guns for added security and the flamers. Well we know from experience you shoot a flamer at somebody they are less inclined to try it again. Just requesting to carry not distribute also think my lighter running low on fluid. Be nice to have a spare or two on hand." Knocking it in his hand to make the point. He's seen the video footage of that 'training' op. He knows the fear factor those flamers can put into people. But no need to do it to his own platoon thus the joke.

"Yeah, sure. Rifleman first, caretaker second Altair, never forget that." Morrison nodded towards the new Marine.
Also requesting flamers and sentry guns for this mission.

Morrison spat again, and scratched his nose.

"Ok, one flamer per squad. As for the sentries... I'm more for dynamic then static security- if you want to bring them, please do- but they're your responsibility, Jones."

Hearing that flamers were going to be present, Jacob's eyes lit up with pleasure.

He'd like to man that flamer for second squad...but did it limit his job as a sarge then...?

No matter, he'd see what happened and if they were incompetent reclaim it. Anyway - he'd prefer a person with a track record of using them than someone fresh out've boot....

At the mention of flamers, Joe saw several of the men’s eyes light up. They must know something he didn't. All Joe knew was that the platoon's weaponry was getting very diverse. Hopefully that meant they would be ready for anything.
"Any questions sofar?"
"Do we know if this installation has any built-in defense systems?" Joe asked even though the mention of windmills and waterpower led him to assume otherwise.

Waiting for Altair to answer back Tarik leaned a little closer to his buddy but by then the breifing had begun. Concentrate Tarik His undivided attention was on the LT he listened as if he was being programed like a machine. The LT kept his briefing short and sweet, TK was greatful. "Two questions Bossman, What kind of resistance are we expecting, and are we getting a warm welcome or should we expect protesters and non-lethal combatants?"Tarik wanted to get use to not addressing the LT formally.

Khan was curious about what they'd be up against. He knew the LT would either answer his inquiries respectfully or laugh in his face at his naive boot camp mentallity. He didn't care. Khan wasn't a thinker, he was a do'er. This would be his first mission and he would be prepared as much as possible. He had minimal training in boot with dealing with rioters and non-lethal methods. He was fully aware of his capabilities to rip through a crowd with the M56 or to pull someone aside and torture them to death. Easy does it bud...

What kind of person would they think he was after it all was said and done? He had gained the respect of many of his fellow recruits in boot camp, but this wasn't training anymore this was it, the real Mccoy. People will die...and if he stopped to think about it, so would he. At home they didn't respect him, he wasn't a patriot he was just a traitor. They were the bad guys after all the so called big badass marines, were just a giant hitsquad for the goverment. He was sure these veterans had seen combat every expression every movement showed it. They must have killed and so would he, when faced with a life or death situation Khan would live and he was more than well equiped for the job. Who knows maybe these Marines weren't just pawns maybe they played a bigger part or maybe it was just an illusion. Perhaps they were truely here to "Protect" these colonist, and not massacare them as he had seen before as a child. Never again..

"Yeah I bet they call them fortifications we call em wooden fences and alunimnium siding. Lets see here Rigon and Khan you two are resposible for loading the sentry guns onto the APC. Altair don't forget to get that rifle before we go. I am not turning the dropship around for that."

"Flamer unit I will take a volunteer in my squad. Most of you are loaded with gear already I don't want to overload you. See me after the meeting if you want it. On a side note no personal weapons down there we want to give a good impression. So you got something like that on you right now put it back in the locker before you load up."

"I'll take the flamer Jones" Jacob's response was abrupt

"On the Andromeda campaign I used one to decent effect against..." Jacob faltered as he wondered how to describe the aliens, he wasn't going to scare the New Guys or make them think he was lying "...Our enemies. On the field I'll pass it on if there's someone who needs it more, but at the moment at least it sounds like I've had most experience in using it..."

Smiling at Jones, Jacob tapped his stub of a finger waiting to gauge the squad leader's reaction to that. He didn't want blind compliance, but then again he didn't want to have his command weakened in any way. It was a fine line...

"I am honestly fine with that most of my squad are specialists at something. So they are already weighted down with their own gear. That why I made it voluntary; didn't want one of them to fall over from fatigue by carrying too much. That the other thing I want four sentry guns on APC Khan and Rigon but not on you guys. We will pull them out if they are necessary understood?" He didn't want to add that the colonists might think they were coming to 'occupy' the colony not defend it if they yank out all the ordinance. Being from a colony himself he has heard the horror stories of the corp. But he has also heard the glory stories of it too. "Khan, Rigon, and Konterran follow Honeysett to the weapons bay to help him with the flamers, sentry guns, as well as getting your rifle. I am going to be going through final prep of the APC with Abbot, the pilots, and Morrison so that is where you will find me. You got your orders move out when dismissed." Putting his cigar back in his mouth to sort of finalize his statement. He leans back against the post and nods to Morrison and Honeysett with a serious look.

Laughing out loud "Four Sentry Guns? Don't go overkill too much...Run that past the LT on how many you take...I'm off to get the guns then - if there are too many we'll take the surplus goods back"

Turning around he started moving, looking around at the other marines...

"Come on, hurry the fuck up - you're in the marines, not the boy scouts!" His order was harsh, but the massive grin on his face must have let them know it was in good humour...

While second squad was busy hustling with their gear, Joe took a second to survey his own squad. First squad was smaller, but the fact that Honeysett was grouping up with second squad made it seem even smaller. Joe had already had his 'brush' with Corporal Con, but he hadn't met the Smartgunner they called Green. Green looked as though he'd rather be left to himself, and Joe seemed to have an easier time being friendly with the other new guys, but he decided he should introduce himself anyway.

"Hi, Green is it? I'm Joseph Harmon. I don't believe we've met yet officially. I wanted to say 'hey' before we hit the dirt."

Morrison shrugged; "I haven't got a clue. It's a civilian installation, so probably not."

"Two questions Bossman, What kind of resistance are we expecting, and are we getting a warm welcome or should we expect protesters and non-lethal combatants?"

"Again- I don't know what we're facing. We'll find out about that once we get there." Morrison jumped down from the crates.

"Alright killers! Get your asses loaded up! Move! Move!" he shouted, pushing some of the fresher Marines towards the APC's.

I hope this will be as easy as the briefing hinted...

"Hoo-Rah!" Tarik started stowing the Sentry Guns into the APC, and felt the excitement piercing through his doubts. "Hey Altair " he motioned his head for Altair to come closer. "Stay close kid, I got a feeling about this one..." Tarik's face was dead serious...he waited for Altair to react then blurted out with " Got you!" He laughed "Are you kidding me like they'd send a bunch of freshmeat like us into anything dangerous, we're just gonna babysit some colonist and head home..Easy money kiddo" Tarik continued to load the sentry guns, and threw Altair his M41A. "Lock and Load baby" Tarik Smiled again.

"Alrighty, you" Con said pointing to Joe "you take the flamer unit for now but be careful cause it probably means you will be walking ahead of the squad if we are in enclosed areas.

Indeed Altair was overly enthusiastic but this was probably not due to his youth or inexperience because what he lacked in those two fields he certainly made up in knowledge and perception of the situation at hand. Right now he was not sure if the decision to join the marines was the right one and the first defensible reaction to cope with this problem his organism could think of, was to do something, to occupy his hands and mind, so as not to give the room for the troubling thoughts to infest. Of course the boy chose this path to change something in his dull life and he certainly changed it. His parents now were angry with him, his fiancé has left him for some other rich guy and surprising even himself, Altair suddenly realized that he was missing his twin sister Aurora. Altair tried to imagine her reaction when he would tell her this and the sound of her laughter, but for the first time in his life Altair suddenly really missed her.
"Come on, hurry the fuck up - you're in the marines, not the boy scouts!"
The boy was startled out of his thoughts, looking around Altair just realized that he had entirely missed his first briefing. Tarik was not around, looking for his friend, the boy noticed him carrying a sentry gun along with the other marine to the APC. Joining the pair Altair followed them.
"Hoo-Rah!" Tarik started stowing the Sentry Guns into the APC, and felt the excitement piercing through his doubts. "Hey Altair" he motioned his head for Altair to come closer. "Stay close kid, I got a feeling about this one..."
Not sure if it was Tarik’s own feelings or did the officers told something they shouldn’t have during a briefing, which Altair had missed being homesick, the boy moved closer to his friend.

“I will with pleasure but are we expecting a serious resistance or have you overheard something interesting?”

The boy whispered, not sure if they were allowed to say such things out loud.
"Got you!" He laughed "Are you kidding me like they'd send a bunch of freshmeat like us into anything dangerous, we're just gonna babysit some colonist and head home..Easy money kiddo"
“Don’t know about that Tarik”

Altair tried to lower his voice even more if that was even possible since he was already talking as quietly as he could, so that only the two marines standing near him could hear.

“From what I’ve gather Tarik these men didn’t have more than two, maybe three missions a piece and take a look at their armor.”

Altair motioned with his head towards their leaders, while his eyes examined the armor, it was probably a mistake to wear such armor, since it provided less protection than it used to, plus one look at them, made the fresh marines a bit edgy and Altair was certainly one of them.

“Those red smears they have is certainly not paint, I’ve seen a lot of that same substance on the patients in the hospital, those that had some wounds on them, while I was getting some practice as a medic. And look at those bullet holes and scratches”

Altair was momentarily silent waiting for his friend to take in the information.

“Either they were ‘babysitting’ something very large and dangerous or the corps joined the Greenpeace and trying to save the earth by issuing their officers used amour, so as not to waste the ‘precious’ metal on the new gear.”

The boy grinned trying to drive the troubling thoughts out of his mind. Taking the pulse rifle, the boy went through the procedure he was taught at boot camp to occupy his hands and mind. The boy was not very comfortable with gun of any kind, so the procedure was done slowly, but being a quick learner the boy was learning fast. Removing the magazine, Altair cocked his weapon several times, to clear the chamber and after checking so that the barrel was empty the boy pressed the trigger. Satisfied with the audible “click”, Altair replaced the magazine and turned the switch to the “safe mode” position. Slinging the rifle to the back, Altair helped his friend, loading the rest of the sentry guns into the APC. Wondering how would it feel to be dropped to the surface in the APC, since the brute was certainly accustomed to such tasks.

The tired man glanced at Joseph with his green eyes and nodded slightly before he answered. Im Pfc Ronald Green (dunno what pfc stand for...) and dont worry about the landing crap, only shakes and stuff. After a few seconds of staring Ronald turned back, starring at some wall instead, he sighed softly,
