Turn 14 Hell hath no Fury Like a Woman Scorned

Post by Kurosaki, Ichigo » Sat May 10, 2008 11:26 pm

As Petrova looked at the headless body of Lance Corporal Dirk Pitt, he recited something under his breath...

"Lord, let us feel pity for Lance Corporal Dirk Pitt, and sorrow for ourselves, and all angel warriors that fall. Let us fear death, but let it not live within us. Protect us, O lord, and be merciful unto us. Amen."

"Amen, brother." Ward said, bowing his head respectfully.

Ward kissed his cross necklace, holding and somehow managing to balance the stretcher with one hand. After kissing it, he held the stretcher with both hands and looked up at Morse.

"Alright, your the driver. Let's get this Limo moving!" Ward said, smiling slightly as the medic.

Dire Wolf wrote: "Im pretty sure Dirk would want us give this to his mom or something." He said as he gave the Dirk's Ka-Bar to the El-Tee.

"Yeah." Morrison said, looking at the jumbled mess of metal and alien bodies just a few meters away. There was a acrid sting in the air, his nostrils burning like he had cracked open a bottle of ammonia. It had been a phyrrian victory indeed.

"Get a damn move on! We are leaving, Marines!" he barked at the platoon, knowing that he would have to get the men into action before they turned catatonic.

"Yo, swabbies. Prepare for emergency medical. Tell the synth to prep everything he's got." Morrison said, his tired voice being carried all the way to the waiting dropship on the command frequency.

Sgt_Cartwright wrote:"Roberts... you don't sound so convinced. We need ya too, man. Same goes for you. Especially since you got more stripes than us. Dirk may be down, but that doesn't mean we cannot pick up the pieces of this battle and get the hell outta here. To mourn his loss before we escape and risk death would be only making his death a vain one!"
The statement was still rattling around in Jonsson's head. "Down. Death." As much shit as they'd seen, the words seemed hollow in relation to what had just happened. However, none quite so much as the word "mourn." He was right about one thing, to hell with mourning. He tightened his grip on his acid-scorched rifle and half turned back, not even sure where he was going, but not buying into Ward's logical analysis either, being somewhat repulsed by it. However, his mind dug itself in, and his feet twitched and bit down into the dirt, and he stayed put.
Sgt_Cartwright wrote:Ward finally turned to the El-Tee. He really wanted to get out of here.

"No offense, El-Tee, but can we get the hell outta here. Before those things come back!" Ward said, emphasizing his haste.
Jonsson had bitten back another remark, smacking his brain back to the fact Ward was all too right about, they needed out of there.

Jonsson walked over to Tyler, who was attempting to net up Dirk's body. He helped him, then took the fallen marine from him with a grateful nod, letting the man out of the grim duty he had assigned himself to.

Morrison now had the body and Jonsson moved back into position, staring quietly at his pulse rifle and running his fingers along the bizarrely-shaped acid burns.

"Yes sir!" Ward said, then looked over to Morse.

"You heard El-Tee, his majesty here needs to get moving! Driver, hit the gas!"

Ward saw Roberts and wondered if he actually had listened to what he said. It was hard to tell. Ward would talk to the man later. It was always good to know your superiors and he seemed like a nice guy, just struck hard by something like this. He watched as Roberts assisted Tyler in the netting up of Dirk's body and then saw the lieutenant pick up the corpse. He resisted the urge to perform a salute. A formal burial would be given at a later date. For now, they had to focus.

"Yo, Roberts... I got somethin' for ya..." Ward said, then nodded to Morse to wait.

Ward put down his end of the stretcher and walked over to the lance corporal. He took his cross necklace off and handed it to him.

"Not sure how much it means to ya, but that belonged to my mom. It's been somewhat of a good luck charm for me. Keep it." Ward said, then turned on his heel and headed back to the stretcher.

Ward picked up his end of the stretcher and began moving with Morse. They had to get out of there fast.

Oh dont worry, i wouldnt think of lettin his highness here be late to his ever so important meeting at the infermary, i mean his palace

<tag Ward

Morse started moving forward, starting kind of slow, to make sure he'd be able to keep his footin and hold him up. THen he began to speed up keeping both hands on the strecher, he stayed just a bit behind El-Tee, Trying to keep up with em

Morse then started singin the song he said earlier

from the heat of earths burnin sun, to souls of our shoes, We sent those fucking bugs to hell, but it wasnt the last thing that we'll do

Morse wrote: Morse now had a smile on his face, and patted Erik on the top of his helmet and said
Yes, you are a big boy, and dont worry i'll get you that sticker when we get outa here
Erik looked back at morse and pointed at his boot. "Hey Morse, this boot will fit up your ass with the proper amount of force ya hear?" he said in a horrible Texan accent.

"El-Tee, I will be rear-guard" Erik said as he back-peadeled with his gun still pointing down the hall way, he made himself as low of a profile as he could. "Hey, can you guys tell me when you make a turn, I dont want to have my ass swaying in the wind." He really didnt want them to take a left all of a sudden without telling him, or his ass would be grass and the bugs would be the lawn mower.

Simovic was glad the platoon was finally moving. He motioned First Squad to move ahead of Third while they were meant to be guarding 1st and 2nd Squads retreat, but seemingly the Lt had other ideas as he led his Squad blundering back to the dropship. Seeing this mess he then spoke to 1st Squad.

"1st Squad hold here while 3rd and 2nd retreat back"

Hopefully 3rd would move to a secure position and allow the other two Squads to leapfrog them. After all this was still a combat zone!

He took the Cross necklace and looked at it. When he looked back up Ward was walking away. He stuffed it into his collar, with his own Cross necklace.

Eric had been out of it, but when he finally got solid orders he started doing his job. Lt. Morrison had taken Dirk's body, and Eric stayed with first squad, looking around at the walls. Dugan had taken charge of First, so all he had to do was look for an ambush.

Simovic looked around at the shattered remains of the corridor they'd just came from he gripped his Flame Unit raising it to a firing stance, the aliens may have retreated for now, but there was no no way of knowing they wouldn't come back. Simovic noticed Roberts moving up next to him in his peripheral vision speaking in a low tone he said to him "You hang in their buddy, it was Dirk's time and nothing we could have done differently would have prevented it. You get through today and we're give him the hero's send off he deserves".

"Beep, beep! Limo comin' through!" Ward said, laughing at his joke.

Though he seemed to have been a lot more calm and in a better mood than earlier, in reality, he was pained inside. He had seen his first death of a comrade on his first real mission. What a way to start your career. Though, he was not in total shock, he still was a bit out of it. He reached for his Cross necklace and then remembered he had given it to Roberts'.

"Lord, please bless him. Let him come out of this, even if I do not." Ward whispered on his breath, wondering if anyone heard him.

Ward kept moving and then decided to bust out another joke.

"You're lucky to have me holdin' this stretcher Morse. You might have gotten a backseat driver instead." Ward said, chuckling.

Roberts heard Simovic's comment, and nodded to him, and gave a small, tired, salute. He went back to covering the walls. Simovic so far had showed that he was a very reliable marine, but hadn't showed much of a personal side before now.

"Lock it up, Hor. Just do your job and stop complainin'. I mean, I'm carrying Winter's heavy ass and you don't see me complaining. Although... Morse is also carrying him... but that's besides the point!" Ward said, making a joke out of it in the end.

Sometimes he outdid himself. One thing he was a master of was making almost any situation funny or into some sort of joke. Unless it was a comrade dying. Then he would be too shocked or out of it to do so.
