Quinn saw two people jump for Ward's legs, and he positioned himself to fire up through the air duct.

Who makes ducts this big anyway? he thought to himself as he made a few mental measurements, then fired a long burst from his pulse rifle, attempting to bisect the xenomorph in half that was holding onto Ward.

Ward screamed out in pain as acidic blood sprayed over his body. His head, arms, and shoulders had taken the most acid spray, though thankfully his combat helmet had soaked up most of the acid to his head. He felt two hands wrap around his ankles. One of the Marines had managed to grab him. The xeno above him was indistinguishable. It head had been caved in by the ten millimeter caseless rounds. He fell backwards and even with the help of the other Marine, he fell on his back, hard. His armor took the brunt of the blow.

Ward saw Jerome holding his ankles and never thought he would be happier to see the man. Ward had just got it lucky. He could have died from that spray of acid had it been worse. How could he have been so stupid as to fire in full automatic? How? It didn't matter. He still had the acid burns to deal with. Then he remembered, apply water on to it. He hand slowly grasped his cantine and he unscrewed the lid and began to pour the cold liquid onto the injuried regions of his body. He gritted his teeth in pain, screaming slightly. Once the pain subsided, he reached for his Pulse Rifle, and to his dismay, it was damaged beyond working order. It had taken a large amount of acid. Ward let his head drop and rested it against the resin covered floor. He closed his eyes for a moment and the image of Marlene appeared. At least he had something to go back home to.

Though Ward was injuried fairly bad, he still managed to joke about the situation. It was something that ran in his family, really. Being able to joke even the worst situations. Though, he usually tended not to do so. The run in with the queen had beat a lot of things out of him, his sense of humor almost included.

"Jerome, next time you try to catch me, do me a favor..." Ward said, motioning for him to come closer, "Cushion my fall."

Ward grinned at the man and then gritted his teeth in yet another fit of pain. He poured some more water on the burns, and then glanced over at Quinn.

"Yo Doc... got any morphine?" Ward inquired, staring straight into his eyes, almost as if he was looking through him.

Ward then glanced back at Jerome and smiled. Though he was in excrutiating pain, he still had one more comment to dish out before he allowed everyone to get to work. He specifically stared at Jerome when he said this.

"I told ya I had a bad feelin', asshole." Ward said, then chuckled. |

(OOC:This is occuring simultaneously as Wards comments are coming out of his mouth )
From out of the shadows forms leaped in assault:
A small scorpion shaped thing launched itself at LT. Morrison's head, its legs spreading wide like a hand. Meanwhile Screaming Eagle found himself face to face with an angry Xenomorph, its crest shaped like the others the unit had faced in the corridor above. Its lipped bared back in a snarl. Another Xeno whipped it's tail towards Tyler, its passage causing a rustling sound through the air. When Jerome crumbled to the ground from the sound dropping of Ward, he is grabbed by his helmet, and is being dragged into the shadows, looking up he comes face to face with a rather drab looking Xeno. A leathery looking egg, feathers open beside Jackal and a scorpion type creature launches itself toward him. As Sixtus raises his rifle up to shoot into the ceiling, his eye catches a movement to his left, from out of the shadows another scorpion type creature hurtles towards his face.

"HOR!!" Ward exclaimed, attempting to get up and walk.

To his dismay, he could barely even sit up without gritting his teeth in excrutiating pain. This was turning to hell real fast. Ward checked to see if his radio still worked, hoping he could contact the rest of the platoon. They needed help ASAP. There was no way they could get out of this sticky situation on their own. He only hoped it still functioned, despite everything that had happened to him.

Ward felt the acid begin to burn through his armor once more. He sighed in desperation and began to rip off the pieces of his armor that had been sprayed. He threw his helmet off, the microphone had been shot. It was worthless. He then took off his shoulder pads and his chest armor until his entire upperbody was void of any real protection. Ward cursed to himself. They needed to get out here, now.

"El-Tee, we need some fucking back up!" Ward exclaimed, hoping the lieutenant agreed with him, "Those fuckers got Jerome!"

It appeared Ward had escaped one desperate and potentially fatal situation and had been plunged into yet another one. Was there ever an easy day in the Corps? He knew the answer to that question already. There would never be an easy day in the Colonial Marine Corps. No matter how much he despised this fact. Oh well, he was a Marine. Some how, he would pull through. Just the matter of how he was going to do it was at question. And in his current injured state, there was little he could accept lie there in wait for what could possibly soon be the inevitable.

"I count 20 hostiles incoming!", Tyler shouted out to his fellow marines as he read his tracker. He then heard a scream, followed by ward dropping out of the pipes in the ceiling. Tyler sighed a breath of relief, seeing that ward was alright, momentarily forgetting that the xenos were closing on them.

At that very moment, all hell broke loose.

Several scorpion like creatures, ones he had never seen before, started jumping towards the marines. Thoughts raced through his mind, he was about to open fire on them when he heard something from behind him. He spun around, only to see a xenomorph's razor sharp tail being whipped at him.

He immediately attempted to dodge the tail, as it inched closer and closer towards him.

Sixtus whipped his weapon around with his vision, his forward hand's trigger finger curling around the launcher's trigger. At close range and in the air, Quinn fired the buckshot round right at the facehugger. There wasn't time for a gung-ho shout, a muttered expletive, a response to Ward or even an apology to the man about what he'd done. Only enough time for his reflexes and his brain to put a mental targeting bracket around the facehugger hurtling towards him. When he felt the weapon buck, he ducked his head to let the helmet take any acid spray that might come from it.

Screaming Eagle watched the lips pull back on the Xeno. He knew if he didn't act fast he would be with his people in the next life.

His hand was a blur. He brought up the tommahawk and plunged it into the left side of the xenomorph's head while he dodged to the right to keep out of the acid spray.

Hitting the ground, he raised the M-41A nad opened fire at the wounded alien.

Simovic could hear all the screaming, gun fire and confusion on the comms. Realising that the other squads had been ambushed and were in trouble he decided to give them some help. "Hoffman, Petrova I want you to move up with the Smartguns, put the targetting computers on and give the others some cover fire. Hopefully it'll be enough to enable them to fallback".

Morse wasn't really in favor of the idea of havin some of them move up, it wasn't bad that they were goin to support em, but havin only 2 of em, not the best idea, it wasn't a horrible idea, its just Morse wanted an alternative

And what are we gonna do with them movin up, are we just gonna stay back here?

Ward sat his head up and estimated Jerome was within range of a firearm. He unholstered his pistol and flipped the safety off. He then sat up as best he could, gritting his teeth in excrutiating pain. He would not do this again. Jerome would have to thank him after this. Though it was the least he could do. The man was a Marine and you helped your brothers out, whether you liked them or not. And you NEVER, EVER left a Marine behind.

He took aim as best he could, trying his best to focus him aim on the target. He did not think he would have the energy or the accuracy to kill more than one xenomorph. He centered his aim on the head of the alien and slowly began to pull down on the trigger. He felt the weapon kick back, applying extreme amounts of kenetic force to his wrists. He kept firing and would only cease doing so when the entire magazine was expended.
