Keeping a vigiliant watch as Ishizawa and Johnson proceeded to clear the lift shaft, an idea suddenly came to O'Brien.  Whispering quietly, "Hey lads any sign of the lift?  Give the call button a try, we might get lucky, or then again, the way our luck has been so far more likely not."

Ishizawa continued to observe from a few feet away from the shaft, but couldn't see anything. Not seeing any immediate danger, he moved closer to the shaft while he had his pulse rifle pointed strait ahead. Sweat rolled down his face as he half expected a creature to burst out and grab him, but there was nothing. No lift, no creatures, just darkness.

He stepped back and let out a breath of relief. "Second squad, this is third squad, elevator shaft is secure for the time being, you can go ahead and start rigging the place with charges if you'd like"

"Nah, I can't see it from here. I don't think that'd be a good idea though, if we hit the switch and it comes down to this level we'll just be leading the creatures right to us. Besides, it'll be to risky to try and evac the entire platoon on that thing"

Shrugging his shoulders, upon hearing his CPLs' answer O'Brien responded softly, being mindful of noise discipline and to keep it to a minimum. "It was just a thought CPL, besides the structural integrity of the shaft might be compromised from the two M40's going off.  But worst case, you never know we might not have any other option than to try it."

Given that the other option might be being stuck running around here below ground with those things, i'll give Lady Luck a chance and take the lift. He mused as continued to cover his squad members and waited for 2nd Sqd to move up.

Kurosaki shook his head.

"Negative, Ishizawa, there is no place to go to if we blow this place up."

4th Squad went down the hall, a solid wall on the left and several prison type holding cell rooms were on the right. They tactically and dutifully checked each cell room. The solid steel reinforced doors were unlocked at each location. They entered and searched each but they had only basic furnishings and most importantly all where empty. There were 4 all told. When they reached the end of the corridor, there was a turn in the hall that went right at a 90 degree angle.

Two other doors where on the left side with a solid wall on the right. The first room they came to was obviously a server room of some type. Erik waited out in the hall, guarding the way they hadn't been yet, with Morse back at the turn. Cpl Pitt and Monks had went into the room to check it out and give it a once over. Cpl Pitt put in a call to 1st Section's Sgt and told him that he had found what looked to be a server room, giving the directions to it's location. He then proceeded on his room sweeping mission. The next room looked to be an office type of a higher up and they cleared it and the Cpl radioed that into the Sgt, also marking the doorframe with a mark that meant it had been cleared but not searched.

Then 4th continued with their room clearing as they turned the corner, there was a long corridor with 4 doors on the right and one door opposite on the left, equal to the first door on the right and two hallway openings on either side of the left door that they could see. They could see way down the corridor what must be some of 3rd Squad. Cpl Pitt radioed them so when 4th started down the corrodor 4th wouldn't spook 3rd and get shot. They moved down the corridor with two on each side, Cpl Pitt on the right with his M41 shouldered at the ready and Erik was behind him about a meter with his VP held in a weaver hold slightly pointed down and at the middle of the hall floor. Monks was in the lead on the other side with Morse behind him but looking rearward with their rifles at the ready. Monks stopped at the edge and peeked down the hall opening on his side. Cpl Pitt moved up to where he could look down the hall and motioned Monks to move to the far edge as he covered him down the hall. Once Monks moved to the far corner, Morse moved up to the corner Monks had left, taking over the watch down the hall. Monks moved to the door on his side. Cpl Pitt moved up to the door on his side. Erik moved up to behind his Cpl. Morse watched down a long hallway that opened into a room but nothing moved down there that he saw. Cpl Pitt signed that he wanted Monks to wait and to just stand guard in his position for awhile. Cpl Pitt then moved to the other side of the door he was presently by. Erik moved up to the door on the side Cpl Pitt had vacated a moment earlier. With them on each side, they opened the door and split the room as they entered and cleared it. Moving about the room and making sure it was empty which it was. It was supplied to be a surgery room, for what types of surgeries thay could only guess. Cpl Pitt then went across the hallway to where Monks was waiting. They stacked at the door and went in with PFC Stormhurst giving what overwatch he could from his position at the door way across the hall. Using the door frame as cover and to steady his pistol by locking his wrist and holding his firing hand with his non-firing hand.

The two other Marines went into the room with rifles shouldered and the room was empty. It looked to be a laboratory with vials of all sizes, beakers and stuff. It was clear. Morse had taken a knee but kept watch down his hallway. Cpl Pitt marked the doorway as he had before then walked over to the doorway Erik was now standing in and marked it also. Monks had come out into the corridor and watched the way down towards 3rd. Cpl Pitt informed the Sgt again on what they had found and not found by radio and then motioned for them to proceed.

Morse jumped across to the other side of the hallway but stay there to watch down it. Monks went down to the second hallway opening and peeked down it. Monks then gave the all clear hand signal. Cpl Pitt proceeded to the wall opposite the hall opening and trained his rifle down it. Erik leap frogged ahead and stopped at the next doorway. There where no more openings on the left. Cpl Pitt left Monks guarding down that hall and stacked behind Erik.

They opened the door and rushed in, splitting the room, with Erik going left and Cpl Pitt covering the right. There was a wall directly to Cpl Pitt's right side. They had only went in a few steps. This room was very different to the others. It was in disaray. Things were thrown about. Chairs knocked over. Cabinets left open. The room opened to their right and Cpl Pitt hand signaled that he wanted them to check it out. Erik moved into the middle of the room so he could see into the expanded room area, using one of several desks as cover while Cpl Pitt moved to the corner, to peek around it.

It was a secured area with a solid metal door that had been left open but it was clear as they could look right into the room. And the metal door in the far corner of the main room was standing wide open. Cpl Pitt motioned for PFC Stormhurst to check it out farther as he turned to go back to the main doorway. Erik moved to the enterance and peered in. It had been a security arms storage area. He walked in to the room. It was slightly smaller than the next room, with opened boxes and storage crates on the floor and scatterd about, with larger ones piled against the right far wall, the one that Cpl Pitt had come down. Some were ammo cans. Along the back wall from the door were several security weapon lockers, most with the doors flung open. Along the wall to his left were empty rifle storage racks. Erik walked over to the lockers and looked into them but most were empty. There was one still locked. He went over to several boxes and looked through them, finding some 9mm pistol cartridge boxes that were the standard that would work in his VP. He picked up several and put them in his cargo pockets. He then went to report to Cpl Pitt what he'd found and that they might be able to restock some supplies from here. And if someone had some hacker skills they could maybe open the one weapons locker that was still closed. The Cpl radioed in the info and then they went to clear the last two rooms on their side of the hall.

The first door was the same metal type doors they had encountered in the first long hallway. But these doors had a standardized women graphic painted on them. They cleared the rooms with no incidences. And circled back to meet up with Monks. Leaving Monks to keep watch down the same hallway.

Cpl Pitt and PFC Stormhurst back tracked to Morse. They then proceeded up the hallway that Morse had been watching to clear the room that could be seen. They got to the room and another room was attached to it. They were neat and tidey and full of office supplies. They easily cleared the rooms as noone was there. Cpl Pitt radioed in that the rooms were empty of living souls and marked the door post as such.

Cpl Pitt then radioed Monks to meet them down the connecting hallway that he'd been watching. 4th Squad regrouped at the intersection. Cpl Pitt and Monks continued down the hallway to the first door while Morse and Erik provided security and watched down the hallway that a little while ago Monks had been watching and the one he had walked half way down to meet them.

Cpl Pitt looked at the Bio warning graphic on the door and radioed the Sgt again and told him he didn't like it. The door was locked but had a little window in it. He checked through the window and you could see the whole room area, there was no furnishing in it at all, just a plain all metal room. They went to the next one, it was the same, the door locked and just a plain metal room but smaller. They proceeded to the next door, the room was about the same size as the one before but this one had what looked like an opening in the far left corner looking from the door. The Cpl decided he wasn't going into a Bio-hazard signed room without proper protective equipment so he told Monks to weld the door shut just incase something was hiding in the far room that they couldn't see into, even through the door was locked just to be sure.

After that they regrouped again at the intersection and Cpl Pitt called it in that most of the rooms were searched. Erik pull out his motion tracker and picked up the signal almost immediately. The contact was still close to the same spot. (4th watched down the hallway between 10 and 1 and 3rd watched down the hallway by 2 from near the elevator shaft) Then the orders came. With only two rooms left to be searched on this level.

My Actions: Followed my Cpl in the room clearing mission and provided security for my Squad. Now set up at the intersection, watching the hallway going to room 1 with Cpl Pitt, Monks and Morse. Waiting for the other Squads to show up before assaulting rooms 1 & 2. I have my VP-70 drawn and fully loaded, providing security watch using my motion tracker.

"Orders, Cpl Pitt

"What's going on is we're trying to accomplish what's left our objectives without getting slaughtered by those damn xenos." Quinn said tersely, handing Lippa his shotgun back. He kept his next explanation to a low voice. "We've got two men down and we're looking for a way out, with a command that asks "How high?" when the two corporate advisors tell them to jump."

"Kurosaki, can you send some guys down here to guard the elevator shaft? We need to keep moving on towards the contact"

"Alright guys, lets keep moving towards the contact, 2nd will take over watching the elevator shaft"

Ishizawa began pulling out of the shaft and back into the hallway where O'Brien covered them from.

"Regarding how were gonna get out of here, there should be more air vents around here that lead up to higher floors. We'll try and prioritize those as our escape route. If the elevator is really the only option out, we'll radio the guys from 2nd to give the elevator a shot. But for the time being we'll keep quiet, seems the creatures still don't know were here"

Ishizawa then looked down the hall, then down at his tracker. The contact was still there.

"Ok same formation, O'Brien take center, Johnson at the rear, lets move"

Ishizawa then began slowly moving down the hallway, holding his pulse rifle in one hand while he grasped the motion tracker in the other.

Upon hearing in his CPLs' suggestion for escape and assessment of the situation, Obi nodded in agreement and gave Ishizawa a thumbs up to indicate that he understood.  Moving up to take his assigned position at the centre of the single file formation, M42A carried at the ready, eyes looking over the optic sight as he moved down the passageway quietly a few metres behind his squad leader, one ear listening to the sing song of the motion tracker as it fixed on the sole contact that they were closing in on.

"Roger that Corporal." Johnson said, dropping to the rear keeping his Pulse Rifle ready and watching the Motion Tracker.
