2179 AD, 28th September
Location: CSC Sector, Saint John, Anubis station, Landing platform
Mission timer: 00:01:13:23

O'brien saw the dropship set down and he dashed for it, the ramp was still lowering itself when he reached it. He saw the co-pilot David McRoger standing on the ramp, the fierce wind tore in his jumpsuit and he yelled something inaudible to O'brien who mouthed a "what" back at McRoger. "Are You alone?!" McRoger screamed. "Hell no!" O'brien shouted back and climbed on the ramp. "Sarge dropship at station get out there" the familiar voice of the pilot veteran Carlson snapped.

Inside the dome things where going south pretty quick and Simovic had to make a hasty leapfrog retreat with a few running then stopping and shooting - Running and shooting at the same time only slowed You down and though it looked cool only worked in the movies. This meant that the firepower locking the creatures down decreased by half, this could immidiately be seen as more creatures stormed out of the hatch - How many could there possibly be? They had killed or critically wounded what ten-fifteen?

Pvt Patch reached the exit as the first marine, despite him trying to leave early he did not show any signs of leaving his buddies behind - Instead he urged them on covering them.

Meanwhile O'brien had laid down on his stomach on the ramp of the dropship which now hovered a few feet over the ground - His eye peered through the eyepiece. His crosshairs wandered over the Marines dashing towards him. Grey shapes in close pursuit. Sergeant Simovic was the last man out of the dome, firing madly into the darkness behind him. The sharp staccato sounded softer at this distance, by no doubt muffled somewhat by the fierce dropship engines roar. O'Brien saw how Simovic roared something wordlessly and pointed towards the dropship - The Marines ran like mad, he had never seen people run as fast as they did.

But the creatures were in hot pursuit they were following just behind Simovic. Pvt Johnson glanced over his shoulder and saw Simovic fall when one of the creatures crashed into him from behind. Johnson spun and ran the few steps back, firing into an approaching creature as he did so missing wildly. He kicked the thrashing creature and by some miracle it fell to the side, freeing Simovic. Johnson fired into the Alien from very short range, disregarding the danger of acid spray. Several rounds slammed into the exoskeleton of the monster and cut off its spine as it slumped to the ground. Simovic was hurt, he had a huge bleeding gash on his left lower leg - If it hadn't been for the leg armour his leg would probably been severed right through.

Johnson grabbed Simovic and pulled him to his feet, in the corner of his eye he saw something grey and blurry racing towards him. Then a cracking sound, a hypersonic crack to be exact. O'briens sniper round couldn't have passed more than a foot or so from his face as he could feel the shockwave from it passing. The Aliens skull exploded into nastyness.

Kurosaki reached the dropship and started giving covering fire, soon followed by Sergeant Honeysett who immidiately scored a kill with a particularly well aimed round. One after another the marines reached safety and could add to the barrage. Only Simovic and Johnson remained. They had twenty meters to go, ten meters, five, four, three, two, one...and then strong hands heaved them up onto the ramp. Dugan moaning in pain as his wounded leg struck the lip of the ramp.

"Go, go, go!" McRoger screamed into his headset and the dropship started to ascend. O'brien, Honeysett and Kurosaki firing vengefully into the creatures that where a few meters below them hissing furiously.

"watch that ramp until it is closed we don't want any extra's coming with us!" patch barked and then turned his attention to Simmovic.

"the sarge is hit, looks superficial but doing triage now"patch calmly said over the comms.

"hey sarge, you've been hit, looks like it hurts like hell but no lasting damage" patch spoke calmly to his superior, as he removed his leg guards, "checking for acid splash damage now sarge. you want anything to take the edge off?" patch continued to talk as he worked examining the wound under the armor, it was clean straight almost like a scalpel cut..but really deep, "applying some haemostop sarge to slow the bleeding so we can see the damage and close those bleeding points" patch applied the gel like substance into the wound, Simmovic tensed his jaw and stared at patch..."oh yeah, err sorry sarge, that might sting a bit"
the wound cleared as the gel was washed away"Quinn, patch here, sarge has a deep laceration to his left leg, huge vascular damage, but nothing broken, you are way better at this detailed stuff than me, you wanna take over for the vascular regrowth stuff and then I'll close for ya?"patch new that quinn had better skills and truth be told working on simmovic kind of unnerved him.

(ooc kinda made assumptions in advanced medical tech that we can fix trauma easily and quickly with some clever gizzmo, p.s haemostop already exists, just the vascular regrowth that may be a stretch  :) )

Steadying himself against the hull of the craft - Jacob took out a cigarette and lit one, it was the sweetest taste after so long without.

Looking at the medical drama with only a fleeting interest, he sighed, Simovic was a solid combat leader - this better not take him out of action...

As the ramp closed he worked his way back to a bench and sat down, he finished his cigarette and ground it out - before leaning back and closing his eyes...hoping that sleep would take him.

From his position on the edge of the LZ Obi watched as the dropship circled around the compound one last time before making its approach.  Seeing it extend its landing skids as it approached on final, he gathered up his sniper rifle and stuffed his floppy bush hat into his leg pocket.  Shielding his eyes he crouched and turned it away as its mighty engines kicked up a dust cloud as it settled down on the landing pad.   Running over to it, Obi pulled himself on board before the ramp had even lowered all the way to the ground.  The co-pilot was standing on the ramp shouting at him asking if he was alone.

"HELL NO!" O'Brien screamed back, but his voice was carried away in the wind and the dull roar of the idling engines.

Dropping prone, he got his rifle up into his right shoulder and flicked the safety off with his thumb.  Looking through the optic sight, he could see the rest of the platoon making a mad dash towards the dropship, with the sinister, nightmarish shapes in hot pursuit.  Settling his crosshairs over the leading one, Obi squeezed off two shots, with the satisfaction of seeing its head explode like an over ripe watermelon.  Quickly shifting targets, he double tapped again, shifted, double tap.

Continuing to lay down covering fire, he watched in horror through his optic sight as SGT Simovics' legs were taken out from underneath him as one of the nightmarish shapes slammed into him from behind.  Time seem to slow as PVT. Johnson ran back to assist the wounded Seargent, but that wasn't what made O'Briens' blood chill him to the core.  From his position on the drop ship ramp, Obi could see the creature bearing down on the struggling marines, however his shot was blocked as the marines moved in and out of his line of fire as they made their way towards the ship. Fuck!  Come on guys!  Get out of the way!  Obi thought as the creature moved closer.  Finger tightening on the trigger,  the crosshair danced over his comrades and the creature too quickly for him to have a clear shot. Move it guys, move it!  He thought as the dark demon gained even more ground.  It was almost upon them, then as if Johnson and Simovic heard his thoughts, they moved one way and his crosshair settled upon the creatures smooth curving dome that was its head.   FUCK YES! Obi thought with a sigh of relief as the round whizzed past Johnson's face and buried itself deeply into the things head before blowing out the back.

Shifting targets once again, Obi continued his precision barrage of death.  Slapping home a fresh magazine, O'Brien used the sniper rifle to devestating effect as the dropship slowly started its ascent upwards.

Morse hadn't hesitated to leave the dome. When the order was called to get to the dropship he didn't waste a moment going for the door. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea he did. Ironic to his usual position in the squad, he seemed to be the one in front as opposed to his usual spot in the rear. He had practically hit the dropship ramp running, and quickly took up a seat.

The rest of the group had followed him shortly after. His seat was in the center, but he didn't begin to latch himself in. He applied the safety on his M41A and had it sitting on his lap. He wasn't quite out of breath, it hadn't been that hard of a run. He sat and waited for what ever would happen next.

"Where's them science officers, I got them somethin they might like." Morse said holding up the glass vial which held one of the Alien fingers he had cut off during the fire fight. The other he kept in his pocket, since he didn't think they needed to know about that one.

Erik was close by Morse's side as he ran, keeping up with him. But when he hit the ramp, he moved to the side out of the way of the other Marines running to get onboard. He stopped and brought up the SMG. Sighting as best he could and keeping a wide berth from his fellow Marines, he fired at the things that ventured into his sight picture. More to try and slow the creatures and give the Marines still coming aboard more time than any terminal effects the weapon had on the pursueing creatures.

Once the ramp was up, he safed the SMG and went to find Morse. He had a promise to a fallen Marine he meant to keep. He found Morse sitting in the middle of the dropship's cargo area.

Morse, you still have that little flask of yours, I need a stiff drink right about now.

"Fall back! Fall back! Get to the dropship!" Dirk yelled to his men once the order was given.

Grabbing Lippa's limp form Dirk put the Marine in a fireman's cary and started to leapfrog backwards towards the dropship. Once in the dropship he quickly put Lippa down and turned to cover the other Marines.

"Come on! Move it" He urged as he fires his M-41A into the oncomming hord of creatures

As the dropship took off Dirk allowed himself to fall onto the deck. Be breathed in deeply and let the breath out slowly. Then lighting a cigaret he leaned back against the bulkhead and listened to the sounds of gunfire and slien screams. Looking down at the counter on the pulse rifle counter he saw that it had stopped at 3 rounds left. Laughing at his luck he loaded another clip, just in case.

As Quinn ran to the dropship, he was one of the last to go in with the exception of Dugan. He fired wildly at the oncoming horde, hoping that since it was so large a target that he didn't need to aim. As he got on the dropship, he kept firing but noticed that he really hadn't done any damage. "Fucking SMG! Fucking corporates!!!!!" he yelled in frustration as he emptied his magazine into them. Maybe one of the xenos would get a headache.

When Dugan got on the ramp and the dropship started to lift off, Quinn pulled off his belt of remaining grenades, primed one for a five second delay and tossed th whole belt out into the crowding xenos below.

Then over the platoon tactical net, Patch was relaying Dugan's status. All thoughts of killing the aliens went out of his mind as his friend and sergeant was hurt and in need of his aid. Quinn hustled over and took in the scene with one sweep of the eyes. Shrugging the K52 Medical Kit off his back, he handed Patch one of the automated morphine injectors, then dug in for two pairs of surgical gloves. "Just attach it over a vein and it'll do the rest." Quinn said calmly. Luckily the A24 Electronic Morphine Administers could read in a patient's weight and height, and administer the proper dosage of morphine to kill any pain there was without giving so much that the heart stopped completely. It also had the added benefit that since it slowed the hearbeat, Dugan wouldn't bleed out as quickly.

Digging out a plasma bag, the medic slipped a needle in to buy Dugan some extra time so he didn't bleed out so fast that he'd be dead by the time Sixtus could close the artery and prevent the sergeant from bleeding out.

Dousing Dugan's wounds with alcohol to clean them, Quinn dug in with a set of clamps. He needed to find the damaged artery and close it. He couldn't do full scale surgery here, that'd have to wait until they were back on the Conestoga with it's medical bay. Digging in, Quinn handed Patch a set of forceps. "Pry the wound open!" he barked, struggling to find the artery and shut it off in time to stem the blood flow.

Simovic and the other Marines were giving a good show of themselves, putting the firepower from the Pulse Rifles and SMG's to devastating effect. However this was no time to die a hero’s death and once the charges had been detonated their cue to fall back had came.
As the men tried to retreat moving and firing the creatures advanced with lightening speed jumping and bounding over the barricades as if they presented little inconvenience. Simovic moved out with Pvt Johnson at his side he tried to keep track of the nearest targets and keep fire on them, but they were too many and as he dashed back fumbling to reload his weapon one of the aliens took a swipe at his leg its tail connecting with the armour on his leg, slicing through like a knife through hot butter, the pain was searing as tissue and muscle were torn. Simovic stumbled his leg unable to take any more weight, he looked back to see the creature was moving in teeth flashing forward ready to deliver a death blow, then suddenly Johnson came out of nowhere and delivered a kick to the aliens back sending it momentarily off balance but that was enough and a burst of his Pulse Rifle ripped the creature in half. Johnson then helped him to his feet and together the two clambered the final 20 metres to the dropship. When they were onboard Simovic lay down, he felt weak through blood loss and was glad when Patch started working on him.
eyeball wrote: "hey sarge, you've been hit, looks like it hurts like hell but no lasting damage" patch spoke calmly to his superior, as he removed his leg guards,
"Yeah I damn well need it that thing hit me like a freight train, if it wasn't for Johnson I'd have definately been a goner".

He turned his head towards the marine, "Thanks man I owe you".

Simovic then lay back as Patch was joined by Quinn and the two tried to stop the bleeding. He spoke into his comms to the dropship crew "Whats the status McRoger, wheres Lt Anderson and the corporate suits?"

As the dropship soared upwards O'Brien was suddenly overcome with fatigue.  It was as if the adrenaline kick that he had been riding for the duration of the mission had halted with the stopping power of hitting a brick wall.  In the loading bay of the dropship, he slide down the side of the hull and sat on the loading ramp, resting up against the side of the dropship.

Taking his sniper rifle he unloaded the magazine and placed it back in his webbing and safed his M42A.  As the last thing anyone would want was an accidental discharge in the close confines of the dropship.  Resting his rifle across his knees, and produced his water bottle and splashed a little across his face and drained the rest of it in one swift gulp.  Slowly bringing his breathing back to normal, he took in the events that were unfolding before his eyes.  PFC Quinn and Patch working frantically over SGT Simovic, blood beginning to pool around the Seargents body on the loading ramp as the two medic's worked seamlessly, indicating that they had done this quite a bit.  Good, solid men, those marines, SGT Simovic is in the right hands.   Obi thought as he adjusted his seating position as to allow his shoulder lamp to shine on where the medic's were working away to give them more light.  Reaching into his webbing, he produced his personal first aid kit and threw it over towards Quinn.

"Here Quinn, take this if you need it mate."

The rest of the platoon he noticed where all sitting or leaning around the edge of the loading bay, some standing, others sitting like Obi on the loading ramp.  Haunted, weary expressions on their faces as they watched in silence as the two medics fought to save the Seargent from bleeding out.

patch placed the auto morph over simmovics bracial vein, his arms were exposed already so it was quick and easy, the machine instantly administered the correct dose for his weight and muscle bulk to give him pain relief without knocking him out.

the haemostop had worked and the superficial bleeding had stopped now it was just his anterior and posterior tibial arteries that were pumping out blood, they were severed completely and quinn was desperatly trying to locate them so they could be clamped and prevent him from bleeding out.

patch held the wound open and watched as quinn worked, it wasn't pretty, and stylish? well probably not, in fact most people would describe quinns medical procedures as brutal and horrific. but patch knew, rough and ready it may be, it was also bloody effective and exactly what was needed to save simmovic's leg, if not his life.

as the final clamp went on and the bleeding stopped  quinn finally breathed,"nicely done" said patch to quinn "let me finish up mate, thats the hard bit done"

Kurosaki fired his SMG at the oncoming Aliens. It did nothing to stop them. Kurosaki took two steps back into the dropship and immediately went back to farthest place away from the Aliens. He grabbed a M41A pulse rifle, but didn't go back to the front.

"Thanks man I owe you".
Johnson nodded at the Marine. "No problem, no one get's left behind." He pulled out a cigarette and began chewing on it once he was situated in the dropship.
