While we wait (mini adventure)

Just a little something to fill the space. This is a choose your own adventure style mini story. No dice rolls, no equipment tracking, etc.

(PS; Not a dig at you Pale, delays happen and RL always comes first)

The platoon are on the planet LB21, a planet where terraforming has been largely successful. The planet has three cities within 100km of one another connected by high speed rail, the vast majority of the planet's surface hasn't been explored. Your platoon has been ordered investigate a mining outpost on the edge of the badlands. An area named so because the terraforming failed to take fully, leaving a dry desolate spot 550km in size on the planet's surface. You've been called in because they lost contact with the outpost and then lost contact with those sent to investigate first.

The platoon's APC pulls up a short distance from the buildings, no one has responded on comms.
You see a collection of prefabs and some heavy machinery. One of the larger prefabs is clearly the entrance to the dig site it is set off to the side away from the others, another a bar/canteen as evidenced by a crude sign hanging outside. The rest are unadorned, probably admin, bunkhouse, stores and various utilities.


Do you:
1-Investigate the digsite
2-Investigate the outpost
3-Remain where you are and continue trying to establish contact (shouting, radio etc)

The APC churns up dust as it approaches the main 'road' of the outpost. Stopping amongst the machinery and buildings the APCs door opens as the dust settles. Fresh dust is kicked up by the boots of the marines stepping out under the dull grey sky. Upon closer inspection the purpose of some of the prefabs becomes clear. There is the bar, identified earlier by it's crude neon sign, a storehouse and admin.

There is no signs of movement or life, everything looks abandoned where it fell. A tool here, lose tarp pulling against a lone tie line. The only sounds are the crunch of boots, even the wind seems muted.

Oh, and the habitual muttering of the marine called Morse.

4-Move on to Dig Site

Upon entering the two story admin building it's apparent all is not well. On a normal day this building would have been a mess, today however looks like a riot had broken out. Chairs and desks in disarray with paper work everywhere. The vending machines smashed and fallen, even some of the lights hung low and broken.

Towards the back of the room is a set of steps leading up to an office. One of the office windows is smashed, it's glass littering the floor below. Beneath the office appears to be a glass walled archive room. The only place that seems to not have been hit by a storm, lights still glowing strong and computers still showing signs of activity.


1-Stick together and a) move further in or b) return to the APC
2-Split up into squads - Squad A moves further in. Squad B holds the entry.

Morse makes the blanket declaration that clearly no one is there, and they would be better served leaving the place altogether, before they find out something is there and it starts trying to kill them - Colonist or otherwise. (1-B)

Quinn thinks through the tactics of the situation, and tells Dirk that the building should be cleared before moving onto another, but splitting up is a bad idea.
