Morse wrote: "Ocean seems mighty plausible I'm figurin. Can't figure anywhere else they'd be sendin us. But Dirk why don't ya tell us all bout your trip down to the coastlands lookin for Mister right." Morse said with his snide grin smeared onto his face.

Dirk laughed and shook his head. "That would have been hard, Morse. Every guy I talked to said you had already planted your flag pole in him. So I guess I'll stick with women, seeing as you have the guys covered" Dirk shot back

Jean wrote: "Surfing?" Jean seemed interested. "Do you think, maybe next leave, you can teach me how to surf?" She asked while typing away on her new laptop. "Most of my off-time was spent in debriefing by Weyland Yutani, but that was just because I had nowhere else to go. No one really wanted me to tag along."
<Tag Morse>

Dirk took the cigarett out of his mouth and looked over at Jean "I'll tell you what Jean, if they ever let you off base I'll teach you how to surf Oahu. My familey has a place there" Dirk said

Putting the cigarett back in his mouth he listened to the men and women talk.

It seemed Jacob was making it his mission to enjoy as many cigarettes as possible before he was confined in a zero g suit...

Wreathed in smoke he was breaking down his weapons and making sure they wouldnt jam up on him.

Scratching his stubble he coughed heartily before looking up and scanning the room - seeing marines trying to get ready and steady themselves in similar ways was refreshing, a part of life for him now. As he looked around he saw the old faces and the new - wondering who wouldnt be back this time round.

Muttering a small prayer, hoping he was going to return intact, he stubbed his cigarette out, he wasnt looking forward to this mission...but then he never did look forward to missions.

Lighting another cigarette he started to strip down his weapon again, giving it what must have been its 6th clean over and inspection in half an our...

LCpl Sturmhurst had just arrive back at the barracks and had found his buddy Morse and alot of the other Marines checking their weapons. So he decided to go over his. Peoples lives could depend on how their weapons worked in the Corps. He went to his Squads weapon rack and got his rifle and pistol and went to the nearest table and sat down. He disassembled each one carefully placing the parts in order. He opened his cleaning kit and took out the brush. He picked up each piece and gave it a through brushing. He listened to the chatter from the other Marines as he worked. He then lubed the parts and assembled them in their proper order. He did function checks on both his reassembled weapons to make sure their functioned properly and when satisfied that he had them working like new, he returned them back to the rack.

Sam finished up cleaning her sidearm, slid the clip back in; and engaged the safety. She didn't know what, if anything, to say to Morse; so she just nodded to him and then relaxed a bit as he and Dirk started joking. Sliding the pistol back into her holster, she started to scrunch up her face the smell of so many cigarettes in the room. She had always hated cigarettes and got up to beat a hasty retreat from the smoky part of the room. She put her weapons cleaning kit back into her locker and decided to step out into the hallway which connected the barracks rooms and the briefing room. The short hallway had a large porthole where one could look out and see the stars. Samantha walked over to the edge and looked out into the field of stars and just enjoyed the view for a few minutes...

as soon as people had started mentioning zero-g suits patch had headed to the med lab..now he arrived back into the barracks area with an arm load of meds.." listen up all you drug addicts...u may need these!" patch places the time sincronised slow release patches on the table. "these little beauties cover most known legal rereational drugs, so if you use something please put them on we are going to be gone a while so put on 3 and set the second one to 12 hours delay and the third to 24hours, that will give u upto 36 hours of non craving..please dont take this too lightly, last year we had a marine comtech remove his helmet to have a cigerette when he woke up one morning forgetting he was in a zero-g no oxygen environment"

patch shook his head chuckling to himself...in wasn't really funny but he remebered the look on the techs face just before his head had popped in the vacuum, a cross between were the fuck did i put my lighter and oh shiiit,

Obi's Post
Obi pushed his Datapad aside angrily, though a little too hard as he watched it slide off the table onto the deck. Leaning down from his chair he picked it up and tossed the offending Pad back on to his desk. Putting his hands behind his head he leaned back and eyed the offending device. Ever since returning from leave, and since having the honour being the only person from Two Section to report back in, the Staff and dumped it all onto the good CPL O’Briens’ lap. I don’t know what to hate more, the paperwork or the Staff for lumping it all on me. Obi thought as he recalled the grin on the Staff’s face when he told Obi how far behind Two Section was in their admin. Evil, evil man.

Jumping up, Obi picked up his datapad and stuffed it into his leg pocket on his BDU pants. Might go for a wander and see if any one else from Two Section is around. Making his way out Two Sections ‘Office’ Obi headed towards the platoons living quarters. Quickly sticking his head into the locker room, Obi waved in greeting to a few of the marines in their but couldn’t find any one from his section. Moving on he thought he might have more luck down in the Armoury. Whistling a tuneless tune as we walked, Obi opened the compartment door and peeked in. Smiling hello at Sam, Sixtus and Morse as they looked up. Well I guess they are either on the next shuttle in or they aren’t coming back. Obi thought with a grin. Hmmmm, now I think it is time for a brew and to sit down and read over that damn brief again. Obi mused to himself as he headed off in search of a good strong coffee.

Lt Moore passed the living quarters carrying a datapad and seemed to be in a hurry. He talked to someone over a wireless earpiece telehpone, arguing over something. Waved to the marines absently as he passed.

Quinn stopped, looked over at Colwell with a single, raised eyebrow. Walking over, he instructed the Marine to open his mouth. When he did, the medic shined a flashlight where the teeth had been knocked out.

"None of them impacted. That's good." Sixtus commented as he turned off the flashlight. He rooted around in his bag and drew out a large needle. "You need to be very still right now. I'd rather not get you in the tongue."
"Oww, ...OWW!" Colwell yelped while trying to hold still as Quinn mercilessly stabbed home a lesson on why being a dumbass on shore leave was not a good idea. While rubbing his jaw and waiting for the pain to subside Colwell noticed SGT. Kurosaki walk in and appear to start inspecting the Zero G suits. He walked over to where the sgt. was standing. "Have you had any time in one of these since basic Sarge? I guess I'm lucky that here on Gateway garrison duty we had Zero G exercises every couple of months to keep our skills up."

Private Prescott sits back inspecting his gear, being a FNG is sometimes the worst place to be in the social pecking order. But the idea of being plunged into the depths of the ocean wear a simple mistake could turn a marine into pink smear in the darkest of places seem to be unnerving. But he mentally shrugs off the dark thoughts as such opinions and ideas are best locked away and forgotten as he looks over his gear and hope he has not forgotten anything.

Obi's Post:

Coffee in hand, Obi headed back to the Armoury. Strolling along the passageways of Gateway station he reflected on the brief for the upcoming OP. Can those things even survive in Zero-G? How the hell can we expect to move quickly in a bulky suit, those things are damn fast. Obi shuddered as he recalled the mission to Anubis Station, at how quickly those things moved out in the open and their freakish ability to jump and climb. Still not fast enough to out run a hypervelocity M42 round. Obi felt grim satisfaction, knowing that he was able to send a few of those horrible things back to hell.

Sipping his coffee, Obi moved past a view port that offered a spectacular vista of Earth. Stopping, Obi gazed out, looking down at the birthplace of humanity. A flash of movement caught his eye as a trio of UD-4 Cheyenne dropships flew by and rolled into a dive towards the atmosphere. Merchant ships docking and undocking providing the life blood for Earth and her outer colonies. USCN warships darting about swiftly, a pair of Frigates and what looked like a Destroyer, Obi thought as he squinted to make out the ship in the distance where herding a small group of merchant ships that were in the process of forming up. Must be another deep core convoy dash. Those reports must be accurate about raiders and pirates for such a heavy escort for a small convoy. Obi mused as he watched the final merchie’ take its station and the convoy get under weigh, the warships darting around in their protective screening sectors. Finishing his coffee, Obi looked down at Earth one last time. A hardened resolve swelled up in him. Those things killed the personal on Anubis, my comrades, the poor lass in the sewer. Well no more, not on my planet you fuckers, not on my watch. Without a further glance Obi tossed his cup in a nearby trash receptacle and headed towards the Armoury.

Rounding the corner in the passageway Obi saw that the entrance to the Armoury was open and sounds of weapons being stripped and chatter carried out into the passageway.
Lt Moore passed the living quarters carrying a datapad and seemed to be in a hurry. He talked to someone over a wireless earpiece, arguing over something. Waved to the marines absently as he passed.
Seeing the LT, Obi raised his right hand in a quick snappy salute, to which the LT ignored and moved right by him, talking the whole time into his earpiece. Well fuck you to Sir!

Entering the armoury Obi waved in greeting as he moved over to the weapon holding/charging racks. Removing his M41A he slung it over his shoulder and moved further down the line and took up the M42 Sniper Rifle that he used to great effect on his first mission. Patting it affectionately, Obi grabbed some cleaning gear headed over to a spare bench and put both weapons down. Looking around he asked,

“Any one seen any of the other lads from Two Section?”

<tag Marines>

Picking up the M42 first, he extended the bipod legs and stood the rifle upright on the bench top. Swiftly breaking the weapon down to a basic field strip, not a full strip, Obi took up a cleaning cloth, dabbed a little bit of cleaning fluid on it, wiping down the parts of the weapon, enjoying the calm that came from performing a task. He smiled every now and then listening to the comments and calls from the marines around him.

Kurosaki shook his head. "No. I have not been in these suits since basic. The instructor only gave us a day with these." Kurosaki didn't mention that he had done 'specialized' training for something else.

He was a spy.

Okay, the Democratic Republic of Japan and the United Americas were friends, but some people in the Party thought that things could change in a few years. They transferred him and several others to the USCM so they could get info. So far, nothing of interest. He was fairly low level.

Maybe these Aliens biochemistry was good enough to be sent.

He supressed a smile, before turning to his weapon. He began to dissemble it and began to clean it.

Re assemblying the M42 and with a final clean of its optics before replacing the covers over the sight. Leaving it standing on its bipod, Obi turned is attention to his M41A Pulse Rifle. Quickly fielding stripping the weapon, he cleaned the weapon as if he had been using it his entire life. Inspecting the working parts, making sure they moved without hinderance and with a smooth action. Satisfied, he quickly put the weapon back together, carried out the function test to ensure that it would work as designed. Placing the weapon back on the bench he packed up the cleaning kit. Taking both weapons back to their charging/holding racks, ensuring that the charging indicator light came on, indicating that the rifles were seated in the racks correctly.
