Poll: CLOSED; NAME IS: "THE EASY EIGHTS"

Post by maxvale76 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:40 pm

As part of the re-org; the PCs will be assigned as a Special Missions Strike Team; with a name (or I can come up with one)....

What do people like?

Note; I will NOT go with super-lewd or what I call super-game geeky names (i.e. "Pwned"....this is the kind of thing I flat out HATE); so please stick to stuff like "Marauders"; "Bug Stompers", "Claymore", "Hatchet", etc., etc.

How it's usually done in the military is it's usually based off of the letter of the unit (Sierra Company could be the Spectres, Romeo Platoon could be the Roughnecks) or if the unit has history (Roger's Rangers, Big Red One).

What the platoon needs is to belong to a company and have a designated company patch that we use all the time from here on out. What could work was if our platoon had a certain way of doing things (like being primarily close-in fighters or long range or airborne or mechanized) could have an impact on the name as well.

We do tend not to use flamers or smartguns, mostly rifles, so we could try the "Riflemen" or something like that.

My personal vote would be the "Earthshakers" myself. More than one use for that word. ;)

Hi all,

Just thought I would throw my suggestions into the hat:

Penetrator

Rogue (should be a callsign for a fighter squadron.......)

Wraith (George Lucas is sooo going to sue us)

Barbarian

Mercury

Funnel Web

Redback

Whitetail

Cheers

I like that idea maybe the *something* Rifles.

I know I'm new here but I personally think that naming the strike team for what the bulk of people inside of it use could possibly further alienate future players from choosing other weapons. Which, I think no one wants.

That said, I really don't have a sugguestion as for the name, about any will do.

My in-game post will come in the next day or so.

Finally, I kinda feel awkward for bringing this up but didn't you guys used to have threads for like, the learning rolls after each assignment. I'm not speaking for like the detachment, as we barely did anything there at the end, but more-so for the rest of the team?

Was just curious about that.

Easy Eights is the moniker we used to run with.

If your the Sixth Platoon you could be the Scarlet Spider's.

If it was a new unit under James Screaming Eagle they could be the Eaglets ;D

But on another note Since you are a Strike Team your name and call sign would tend to be something easy. A Ranger Unit in Vietnam was known as the Jokers and they left a Joker playing card at the end of a sweep.

So I recommend Nick's Jokers and the unit patch features a stylized Joker.

I hadn't realized we were no longer the easy 8's.

This is the first I've heard of the "Easy Eights"...kinda like it; though it wouldn't have anything to do with the current situation! :)

As the Team assembled now is an Indpendent Unit; no numbers or larger unit designators really apply (i.e., they aren't going to be officially listed as the "2nd Platoon of Alpha Company of the 3rd Battalion, etc., etc.)....

So almost any kind of Moniker would work....

"Jokers" works....as does "...something...Rifles"...as does; whatever people like....let me know!

Since it seems we're mostly Anti-Xenomorph in nature, we should have something that reflects that.

Perhaps..."Bug Hunt Inc."

Easy Eights
Delta Dogs
Byron's Bandits

They're the names we've had so far...

I think Easy Eights was my fave...

Given our record, we should use some form of alliteration in the name.

Good thinking. And we should go back to the old style of giving squads animal names ^_^

Eagle Squad FTW.
