Samantha reacted to Quinn's order to follow the LT with a crisp; "Aye, aye"; and rushed after the woman with her Pulse Rifle at the ready. She slowed a bit as the tunnel grew dark and was switching on her shoulder lamp and flipping down her IR eyepiece at the same time her squad leader was giving the order to do just that.

She then moved quickly again; stumbling a bit; but catching herself as she hit the artificial gravity and saw the El Tee take a tumble. Moving quickly down to the base of the tunnel and then into the room; the strange lettering made her feel nervous and tense and she did her best to stay alert and keep her head on a swivel.

The rest of her squad and then the rest of the platoon came down and Ericson's snapped out some orders. Following the LT's and Quinn's leads; Sam moved into position to cover the left door. When Chappell spoke to Ericson; Hall thought to herself; Why the hell does he keep calling her 'sir'? Is ma'am a bad word where he comes from?

Duncan approached the door on the left. He had no real plan or inclination to open the door. From what he knew, Silas was the engineer.

"Silas, you got your welder?"

Duncan turned to the others.

"Does anyone know if this space has life support? Any signal from the other platoon?"

Joe found things went from extremely slow to quick and in a hurry in an instant.
"Get your asses here right fucking now! Follow me!"
He was about to ask Corporal Morse a question when the Lieutenant's voice came over the net suddenly and almost sounded like screaming. This scared Joe. His officers were supposed to be in control of things, but Lieutenant Ericson went rushing in by herself, commanding the rest of the Eightballs to follow her with almost incomprehensible shouting to Joe's ears. He watched 1st begin bounding in immediately and not much longer after that Corporal Morse's voice came over his helmet:
"One a you assholes in front."

"Another in back."
Joe took the lead as his squad moved in. As they entered the tunnel he noticed the gravity too as his feet were harder to move and the weight of his suit came bearing down on his shoulders. Great more weight to carry. Typical Marine Corps. He carefully move forwards trying to not fall on the surface they were on. They reached the bottom and he immediately began fanning out around the entry chamber, faced by another set of doors. The Lieutenant and First Squad seemed to be gazing at the walls and their lights danced around the room.

Joe flicked his light on to follow suit and watched the walls begin to glitter with holograms. Not the trideo kind. The reflective, colored kind. He turned around to check the positions of friends in the room to adjust his position and noticed Corporal Morse and Waneright? Having a one-on-one conversation. As the latter had lagged down for some reason.

Joe turned back around and tried to cover an empty sector of wall, not that it mean much, there was nothing there, and most likely wouldn't be. Some of the Marines from the platoon were now at the door having a discussion of some sort.

Oh boy.

Bring up the rear of First Squad, Obi took extra care as he half run/slid when the wave of artificial gravity slammed into him suddenly. Why the fuck has this rock got an artifical grav generator. Why can't anything be easier. Obi paused for a second as he waited for his body to adjust to the new sudden gravity.

Reaching the bottom, the area opened up into a passage, Obi shook his head as the LT was busy studying the etchings on the walls. This is just one big fucking science exursion for her. Jesus.
His musings were interrupted with the Medics voice coming over his headset.
"First squad, stack up on the left-hand door." Sixtus pointed at it, in case the Marines got mixed up in here.

"Roger, I'll cover the right hand side." Obi responded to the directive and moved into position. Leaning against the wall, his pulse rifle raised at the ready.

Dirk followed the LT into the doorway, and down the sloping corridor. Then it hit him, he was more sliding than running. Gravity, shit. Things were going from bad to FUBAR as quickly as they could. Ending up at the bottom Dirk got up and swung his pulse rifle around looking for a target. Seeing nothing he took stock of the situation.
Nick wrote: She decided to not let that opportunity arise. "Squad 1 and squad 2 cover those doors, squad 3 see if you can get one of these doors to open."
"Roger that Ma'am."

<Tag the LT>

"You heard the LT third. Give me a hand with these doors. And if you have any ideas don't keep quiet about about it."Dirk said to his men as he moved quickly to the closest door and started to try open it.

<Tag Third squad>

As Dirk struggled with the door he listened to the others talking. Cuneiform? What the hell was going on here.

Rednus shrugged at the thought of forever being thought of as a bookworm. He had always found ancient civilizations fascinating, Sumerians in particular, and had subscribed to the idea that earth had once been visited by space-fairing 'gods'. Now, it seemed to him at least, they were standing in the dimly lit proof of that belief. The names of gods and temples filled his mind as he waited in position on the left side door, along with the rest of first squad. He'd held his tongue until now, but the idea that a fellow squad of marines were in trouble beyond them spurred his next actions. Rednus licked his lips and, summoning the deepest voice possible, began to speak.

"Anu! Enlil! Enki! Innana! Utu!" and for the sake of having tried, "Ur!"

Questioning looks were shot in his direction, most disdainful, and a few with confusion, he was fairly certain some arrived with a touch of insult as well, but at least he had tried.

Anu! Enlil! Enki! Innana! Utu!" and for the sake of having tried, "Ur!"
From his position at the door, Obi stood dumbfounded as his squad leader adopted an impressive stance as he called out in a booming voice. Obi slowly looked across Sam and caught her eye, who stood with a similar stupefied expression. Clearing his throat, Obi asked.

"Ah, Red, um, what are you doing?"

"Just seein' if any of these portals are voice activated. What you just heard were some of the names of the great gods of the sumerian history, and the temple , 'Ur'." Responded Rednus. "Sorry to freak anyone out, I probably should have mentioned something first, just thought maybe I could trick the mechanism into opening one of these doors through mimicry".

He glanced around at the other marines still looking oddly at him. "As you were." he added, hoping to bring this confusion to an end.
