"Nice of them to knock" Thought Colson as the dull thud passed through the ship. In the last moment he decided to sling his SMG and draw his side arm. Easier to control and fire one handed.

When the order for smoke was called Colson pulled down his helmet's IR sensor, as long as no one used thermal smoke it should allow him to see the aggressors through their own while Morse would have his smartgun to do the work for him.

Colson patted Morse on his shoulder twice, good to go was the message, before bracing hard and helping Morse in stay in place.

As he steadied himself, Roberts noticed the tiny viewport. He moved over to it and looked out. The glass was thick, and hard to see through, but what he did see terrified him.

"Holy shit! We're in trouble! That ship is enormous! There could be hundreds of 'em in there!" he shouted to the others, trying to control his panicked breathing. Then his heart sank a little further.

"Guys... They're towing us. With a cable," he said in a resigned voice. 'We don't even get a chance,' he thought to himself. "We've got about fifteen minutes to get out of here."

The moment Sal heard that they were being towed he swore and holstered his rifle. "No points for guessing how this is going to go." He leaned against the wall and pinched his nose. Likely the ship was going to be popped, sooner or later, and they'd all die of exposure.

If life support didn't run out and they died from that first.

Lovely. Sal hung up against a wall as he tried to think of a fifth corner solution to the problem. Wasn't happening. The only option would be vacuum capable suits, but they tended to be obvious and none were in the armory when he was last there.

Unless there were emergency suits he didn't know about.
"Any emergency vacuum suits on this rig, Pope?" He asked the Android, hopeful.

A low groaning sounded through the Snakefighter as she slowly turned until she was moving with her aft was facing the direction of the enemy frigate. Anyone looking out a view port would see a golden dragon coiled in a circle.

Quinn looked out the aft viewport, his shotgun held in one hand. He saw the cable and the ship towing them. He let out a low sigh, annoyed at his enemy's use of tactics.

"Okay, new plan." he muttered to himself. Taking a full minute, he panned his view around until it fell upon several areas within the doomed Snakefighter. Quinn's eyes lit up with an idea, and he quickly spat out a series of orders to the platoon. "Marines, break out the oxygen masks from the DamCon station. Use the masks from Ekylprillion if you can't find those. Sergeant, have Giosso, Obi, and Pope find a way to get the air turned on. Hook it up to the reactor in the APC if you must. Pope, give me regular updates on our oxygen status."

His tone was authoritative and slightly rushed from the situation that he found himself in. He knew that Dirk would have things well in hand. And if worse came to worst, the APC was rated as NBCV. After that, he found that he wouldn't be all that useful with the techs. They didn't need an officer breathing down their necks, despite however much he wanted to. So he decided to make himself useful elsewhere.

He floated down to the vehicle bay to find Oksana and Dmitri there already. Pushing off the ladder rails, he grabbed a corner of the APC to come to a halt nearby them. "Let's get you two in the vehicle." he said in a fairly genial tone, extending a hand to Dmitri.

Dmitri nodded at the Lieutenant but pushed Oksana toward the Marine's extended hand.

"You first," he said to her when she made to resist—not easy to do in micro-grav but he knew she'd try it. Dmitri gave her his best gimlet eye and said, "I'll be right behind you."

"What are you thinking?" Oksana asked narrowly and Dmitri inwardly cursed her ability to see through him. He'd have to redirect her.

"You're wasting time." Dmitri nodded toward the APC and the Lieutenant. "It's not yours to waste."

Oksana did as he asked, clearly not satisfied but willing to trust her husband's implicit promise. Dmitri hoped she'd forgive him for the lie.

"Smart." Dirk muttered to himself as he saw the enemy's strategy. "Very smart or very lucky" They would just haul us along until they got us to their stronghold and then cut us apart when we were dead or they had reinforcements. Listening to Quinn he jumped to orders.

"Giosso, Obi, Pope. I want options and fast. Can we hook up the life support to the APC? If we have any portable generators onboard can we hook those up to individual systems to get around the damage the EMP did? Get on it people" Dirk said
<Tag Giosso, Obi, and Pope>

Moving to the storage locker Dirk grabbed an O2 mask and hooked it up but didn't start the oxygen flow yet. Best not to waste it. Then catching up to Quinn he kept pace with the man. "I've ordered Giosso, Obi, and Pope to get on the problem, but even with life support that only solves one of a hundred problems we have right now. I volunteer to suit up with a few other volunteers and make our way to the enemy ship. They might not even know we're alive in here. With any luck we can get in and find a way to get the rest of you over. Maybe we could even vent their atmosphere and take the ship that way."

"We don't have any vac suits on board, for some goddamn reason." the Lieutenant said in a harsh tone. It wasn't directed at Dirk, but at the sheer incompetence of not putting ANY vacuum suits on a starship. "Check to see if we have any HARDCore units aboard, those might work. I doubt we'll have those, but we could get lucky."

Quinn eyed Dmitri as he pushed Oksana towards the APC. For months now, he'd pretended not to notice the fighting between the two, and now he'd gotten himself involved in another spat. "How gentlemanly of you. Now you get your ass in." he said in a level tone.

Quinn grabbed hold of the man's arm and shoulder, then pushed off the bulkhead towards the APC, only a few scant meters away.

Mark’s pistol was holstered and all but forgotten within seconds of realizing they were being towed rather then boarded. Carbon Dioxide jumped very quickly to the top of his priority list. Ultimately, Oxygen was a much simpler issue to deal with then CO2 poisoning, and on that could be handled later. Step 1 was airflow…

Mark’s thoughts were partly interrupted and moved to the back burner as Dirk starting handing out orders. “Sir!” he called out in acknowledgement even before the orders registered. Orders that asked for options. Which was, more or less, back to what he’d been thinking about before. He struggled for his Datapad losing his footing and starting to float off as he did. “Obi? I loaded the ship’s manual on my ‘reader – have you looked at it before? Do you remember where they talk about air systems? Why do they never index these damn things.”

<Tag Obi>

“Sir…Sir!” Mark called out, trying to get the LT’s attention. He had a standard issue datapad in his hand with what was clearly some kind of vehicular manual on it. “Sir, that was true of the mark 1, the current variant has those flimsy standard vacuum suits in the emergency supply cache, alongside the escape pods.” Mark paused for a moment before checking the pad and adding, “Also a new feature in this year’s model.”

“The extra emergency gear should be under the decking right…” Mark looked at the reader again, then back to the cargo bay. This voice fell. “There, sir.” He said, pointing to where the APC was parked.

Dmitri might not have given the impression he'd been paying attention to the conversations around him, but it wasn't for nothing that the crew of his boat--back when he was still their captain--declared he possessed radar ears. His main take-away: suits were the chance they needed to turn the situation around. Instead of making a valiant last stand as he'd originally intended (something he could already hear Oksana declaring "manly and stupid"), this new development gave him a new direction.

He stopped resisting Quinn and said to the Marine, "I'll move the APC. You get the suits."

Sal had grabbed a breather unit while the rest of the unit was discussing a means of acquiring space suits. What killed him, mentally, was that there WERE suits. Under the decks. RIGHT where the APC was parked and, in ANY realistic situation, would be parked.... WHAT?

He was standing next to Morse when this information became apparent. "I swear they put it there just so, when something like this happens, they have an excuse to make a Mk 3 where the emergency kit isn't in a stupid ass position." He shook his head.

<Tag Morse>

He looked at the others. "I don't suppose there's some emergency power in the ship's weapons, so as we might 'fire from the hip' right up their asses?"

<Tag Anyone>

Big vessels held the power for their guns in capacitors, before firing. Smaller vessels weren't always built so robustly, but the principle of their weapons were the same. If the guns had been pointed in the right direction, forward, then they might just get a shot off, right into an engine.

"Right, sure thing. I love the simple problems." Obi smiled laconically as he was given his task. Pushing himself off gently Obi pulled himself along the bulkhead and made his way up to the flight deck.

"Hey Pope, an idea. If the APC rector is refueled from the ship, is there any way we can power up the APC's rector and use it to jump start the ship?" Obi asked as he entered the flight deck.

Things were not exactly working the in Eights favor. They had somehow managed to put in a singularly bad situation that had very few ways out. And while in many situations Morse would be in an internal panic or rage, for the moment he was operating with a stern calm. There was not much that he could do. He was preparing for boarders, which apparently weren’t coming. The others were working out strategies to get the power back, but they were already covering just about everything.

”Aint never shoulda built the MK1…. N’ they sure’s fuck aint never shoulda dropped us on this one.” Morse responded to Sal’s points about the Snakefighter.

< Tag Sal

He moved over to Dirk and thought of an idea that he thought was reasonable. ”Odds’s they put out a combat call. We aint that far outa base. Why don’t we just hop in the APC, n’ wait till reinforcements come, that big fuckers air tight n’ heat resistant. Aint no way they’d know we was there.”

< Tag Dirk

To him that was a sound idea. His squad wasn’t necessarily able to help with anything right at that moment. The Com-Tech’s were already working on a solution, and until they needed to grab something they just needed to be at combat ready status.

Roberts couldn't stop his mind from going haywire. 'We're screwed! We're screwed!' kept running through his head. He tried to understand the discussions about life support and back-up generators, but his mind couldn't focus. He was a soldier, not a mechanic. He hoped that Pope, Giosso, and Obi could figure out some way to save them. He decided to give himself some focus by getting a breathing suit. He hung the re-breather on his belt, and got an oxygen mask.
