MacGreggor followed closely on Dirk's left as 3rd Squad flanked left around the enemy position. He periodically checked range through his sniper scope and observed the flashes from the Sep position. The heavy underbrush proved an impediment for a good line of sight but the Rifle's targeting computer painted hostiles as he swept his scope across the engagement line. Sean took a slow intake of breath as he lined up a shot and slowly squeezed the trigger as he exhaled, *THUNDER CLAP*, sending a high caliber armor piercing round down range.

As the firing suddenly stopped MacGreggor took a knee and crouched low into the grass but kept his sniper rifle shouldered and zeroed his gun sight for the correct range. He switched to platoon wide channel,

Quinn worked methodically on Morse, his well-practiced hands moving with enough autonomy to allow part of his mind think about the other situation at hand. His unit was in contact with the enemy and he had a casualty which would have to be medevac'd out. He did have some limited air support, but he didn't know what anti-air units the enemy had in the area. So he would save it for hard or massed targets. He took the scalpel in hand and cut Morse's skin around his wound, peeling the skin back. He looked at Morse's readouts as the morphine kicked in, lowering the Marine's heartbeat by a noticeable degree. Next, he took the bone saw and...

Then the fire slacked off almost as fast as it came, and the taunting call came from the trees. His mind worked furiously for a moment before he got on the platoon-wide tactical net. "Everyone stay quiet, do not engage unless fired upon or order given by your squad leader. I need those fifteen minutes to finish on Morse." he said into the comm. He deliberately gave the initiative to Dirk and Sam, knowing that if they had to open fire before that time was up, it was for a damn good reason. Hell, if they saw the opportunity to assault and win, he knew it would be for a good reason.

He then turned back to the bone saw, gripping it firm in one hand and Morse's leg in the other and started cutting on the exposed tissue and bone with a steady zhrr-zhrr sound.

Samantha took the moment given by the pause in fire to direct Mark and Roberts to shift positions, staying low and crouched behind cover; making sure that if the enemy had any kind of idea where they HAD just been; they'd be in a different position now. She kept them moving in a mostly Easterly, slightly to the South direction....

Keeping her voice quiet and off of the comms for a moment; she answered Roberts question for orders with a whisper to Eric and Giosso; "Stay frosty boys; stay as low and/or behind good cover as you can and get ready to cut loose or move fast, depending on what Quinn or Pitt say."

The whole time she kept the butt of her Pulse Rifle tucked in tight against her shoulder and upon shifting to a new position behind some thick trees; she took a knee, found a good place to arc a grenade, and kept a good aim on where she best thought a group of Rebels was. The messages began coming in over the comm shortly.

She switched the comms over to her squad's channel first and whispered;"Bell, Boothe, keep in cover and move as quietly as you can towards our position. I'm gonna try to get in touch with Pitt's squad and hopefully catch the Rebels in a bit of an 'L' cross-fire. Don't fire unless fired upon or until I or Pitt give the order."

She then switched over to the Platoon-wide channel and kept her voice in a whisper while maintaining her aim the whole while. "This is Hall; I've got 1st Squad ready to rock n' roll; but if anyone has any eyes on targets, I'd love to hear it. Your call Sarge, my people are ready"; she ended with a question/ statement to Dirk.

<If the order to open up is given; aim for 5 and fire a Grenade if she thinks/knows some bad guys are in GL range; otherwise, aim for 2, fire burst, aim for 2, fire burst>

Dirk grinned in spite of himself at the mention of United Systems Murderers, the name the colonists had for the USCM and the government they fought for. Taking advantage of the ceasefire Dirk quickly reloaded his Pulse rifle and took stock of his position at the far left of the attack. They weren't exposed, but they weren't exactly in the best position either. The enemy had the home field advantage but they didn't know that Dirk, and the rest of the Marines like him, would rather die fighting then surrender. Not to mention what Morse would do if he woke up in an enemy hospital.

"Roger that." Dirk said in a low voice, knowing that the medic in Quinn would be intent on saving Morse.

"Sam, keep your people ready. I don't trust this fifteen minutes they are giving me. At the first sign of aggression return fire. We might have to fall back fast and if I get hit I want you to take command of my squad. Get clear and if Quinn OKs is I want a strike from orbit. You should be able to advance then." Dirk said in a low voice.

Getting MacGreggor's attention as quiet as he could Dirk used hand signals to send the sniper farther left and the rest of his squad to stay put.

If Sal still had eyebrows, one would have quirked at the sudden taunting and the demand for a cease fire and surrender. You didn't do that until you'd actually had the enemy in your sights. Right?

Sal knew one of the other marines was following him, one of the new bloods. Sal held up a fist to bring the marine behind him to a stop. Crouching low, he scanned the bushes visually.

Something was up, and on a hunch he looked into the trees to see if anything was amiss.

<Roll Perception, bushes, then Canopy>

After the officers and squad leaders had their talk, Sal turned on the discrete squad channel.

"Sam, If they had us all pegged, they would just shoot us full of holes. This is either a shit recruitment drive or They're stalling for backup." The thought occurred to him, the freighter. The one that had bullied their snakefighter. "That freighter, if its anywhere near here, it might become an issue."

"Filling us with lies.... as opposed to what, cream filling?" Sal shook his head.

MacGreggor gave one subtle nod and chambered a new round as he stepped to his left in a slow creep, his eyes looking up into the trees and watching his foot placement as he transverses further on the Sep's left flank. He keeps to the high grass and pauses to listen in a grouping of bushes. He kept his sniper rifle tucked tight into his shoulder and uses its target sensor to ping tangos hidden in cover, he clicked to 3rd squads channel and whispered into his mic.

(roll perception to scan forest and canopy. Roll infiltration to move with stealth and not make a sound.)

["Get the techs using my rifle's sensor to feed target data to any smart gunners and give our guys precise info on enemy dispersion. We don't have to fire blind if we don't have to."]

<tag Dirk>

He stopped his movement when he got about 50 feet out and went prone, using his rifle to make a small sight hole for his scope to get a clear line of sight. He let out a well controlled breath and settled in for kill orders.

There as no part of Morse that was viewing anything of what was happening as alright. He could see that things were falling apart in their plan, but he always expected that. He knew that he had a serious bodily injury, but that was old news at the moment. He still could not hear, but he was able to see, and seeing wasn’t making it easier.

Morse had noticed the morphine he was pumped with, and it had not fully taken affect when Quinn began to cut on him. It hurt, but Morse was still in such a daze that he was hardly sure how he should respond to it. His mind thoughts were just racing everything.

”Fuckin’ shit!” Morse spat as his skin was pealed.

Then the morphine began to seep into his being and Morse realized he was feeling feint. He was dizzy, and his vision was getting blurry. It felt like he was tired, but not exhausted. It was a very drug induced struggle.

The sounds and feeling were awash as he attempted to keep himself awake and conscious. It was combination of pain, loss of blood, and drugs. But Morse was struggling to deal with consciousness versus his desire to kill every colonist on the planet.

He was still awake, but he was not really feeling anything other then a bit sick and angry.

Colson was attempting to treat Morse's other wounds while Quinn got to work on Morse's leg. More importantly he was trying to keep his squad leader from moving round too much. Such was his focus on the task at hand that Colson didn't immediately register what the rebels had said.

"You have got to be kidding... damn it Morse, keep your shit together." He said as the effects of the morphine started to take effect. Even as he said it he had to fight to keep his belly still, the sound of Quinn working away with the bone saw was unsettling, trained medic or not.

"We could always give Morse to them," He said mockingly, "Solve two problems that way; one less angry son of a bitch to chewing my ass out and a whole lot less rebels." He was talking to Morse, hoping to keep him awake and to distract himself from the sawing.

"Something in the Geneva Convention in there about Weapons of Mass Destruction, which a wounded Marine would be. Also something about "cruel and unusual", which his bitching would be." Quinn responded, his face deadpan as he set the saw aside and cleaned the offal from the wound. He clamped the arteries with quickheal spray, then carefully folded the flaps of skin that had been pulled back from the leg over the stump. He began to work with a suture. "Morse, would you prefer a cross-stitch or a sailor's hitch?"

Bell heard a click his left followed by a series of beeps across his 12 o'clock. He recognize the sound as sentryguns coming online.

He dashed behind cover (a rock if available, tree if not). As he went he gave a sharp call of "contact!!!" to his point man, then hit the deck with urgency, .

Sal swore as he heard the marine behind him call out, there was something in the bushes and it wasn't human, just some old fashioned mechanical terror.

"FUCK!" He was on his belly, and rolled behind something solid, a tree, as the machine started whirling up. "All Eights," He said into his comm, "Enemy Sentrys!"

"Sam, Keep low!" He said again. His eyes followed where the noise was coming from and looked for the signs of the killer tech.

MacGreggor heard the warning and quietly and slowly took off his frame pack and laid it beside him as he stayed prone and crawled on his stomach into cover behind an old fallen tree, dragging his pack with him. He got to work on a simple remote charge with a detonator, he fixed the charge to a fist sized rock and got to work making more IEDs with more punch than a standard grenade.

["Making some party poppers. Not pretty but I gotta mean arm. Can make a handful but this military stuff is scary more powerful than whatta used to handlin'."]

(Roll Demolitions to assemble explosive charges with remote detonators)

Anyone got approximate location on those Sentries?!

Roberts tried to keep his head down as he awkwardly ran while carrying the massive Smartgun. He found a particularly dense bit of brush with some bushes and trees, and hid behind it. He tried to ready himself for whatever orders came next, and took a swig from his canteen. "Yes Ma'am," was his only reply to Corporal Hall. There was no need for more input at the moment. He just had to stay focused and do his job.

As Bell dove behind the rock, the air begain to fill with the high pitched whine of .50 rounds, the sound filled the air like a swarm of angry wasps. Several slammed into rock as he hunkered down. His every movement drawing the heated lead into his direction.

The air filled with a heavy rain of lead, blasting through the dense foilage. The shredded remains flew every. The rounds impacted the tree behind which Boothe had rolled locking in on his motions. Splinters sprayed all over his back as the rounds punched through the tree. Suddenly an audible groan and cracked filled Boothe's auditory system. Glancing up he realized the massive oak was toppling his way. It's trunk chewed to pieces by 50mm beaver's teeth.
