Turn 10 (First Squad)

Post by Corporal Hicks » Thu Aug 04, 2016 2:22 am

1st Squad
A few seconds after the door seals, the marines hear pounding against the door. It is muffled, but sounds far too loud to be a person. Then the muffled sound of the claxon, the voice, and the pounding stop. There is nothing but complete silence.

The two marines that had run through the door were Sergeant Forney and Lance Corporal Jarvis. First Squad’s earpieces crackled; it was Salazar Boothe. “Hey, I’m alright! I’m on the dropship. You guys okay?”

Lieutenant Gruber came up and patted Sergeant Forney on the back. She spoke to Forney and Corporal Hall. “No casualties, across the board. Well, except the prisoners. If we get any more prisoners, we’re gonna be double careful. We must still be carriers for the virus. Forney, you take command here. This whole group is First Squad now. I’m gonna take the tail and coordinate our efforts. Let’s keep moving. Pope will update your maps as we go. We’re going through the left door still. Copy?”

As they moved away from the hangar door, Forney spoke to Hall. “I’m thinking we open the door and send everything we have straight at ‘em. They didn’t give us no damn warning just now. Course, we could use at least one prisoner. What do you think?”

Aun took this time to perform weapon checks, making sure everything was as it should be. When he was sure things were up to his standards, he ran the tip of his tongue from incisor to incisor. A few deep breaths. He awaited his orders, taking advantage of the moment of calm that was here, steeling himself for what was beyond the next door...

Clint felt like he was ready to run through the door when they were prepared to open it. "Everybody all right" he asked to everyone else in the hallway. He kept the butt of the sniper rifle tucked into his right shoulder and waited for them to open the door.

Sam let out a relieved breath upon hearing Boothe's voice over the comms. "Thank God mon"; she said quietly and beamed at Giosso in happiness at knowing thier squad mate was okay.

Turning to the LT and the others as the new plan was outlined, she said; "I agree that getting a prisoner for some useful intel would be nice ma'am; but we'll have to play each situation by ear." Getting her equipment ready, she says; "Ready to roll whenever you are El Tee".

Mark let out his breath with relief to hear Boothe’s voice and nodded in Sam’s direction to acknowledge their shared concern. It was a welcome change to get new of someone’s survival rather than their demise. Shaking his focus back to the task at hand, the tech moved to the side of the left door and got himself firmly in cover. Drawing his ever-useful multitool, he popped open the cover of the door mechanism and located the wires he would need to bridge.

He nodded again in Sam’s direction, letting her know he’d open the door on her signal.
