A quick trip in space found the Devil Dawgs docking with the Space Station. The vessel synced up with the outer hatchway.

“Giosso, your on deck let’s see what we can find behind door number 1,” James commanded.

He turned and looked at the remainder of the crew. Okay folks let’s get our gear prepped
And on. Double and triple check each other. Once we step away from the ship we will on our own.!”

Lopez packed several shaped charges, concussion grenades, swinging his standard issue pulse rifle on his back, with the gifted m56 smart Gunn leisurely hanging in his front ready for active use and then stripping on his full field pack complete with lots and lots of spare ammunition and supplies.

Mark nodded and made his way up through the Marines and up to the station door. Reaching the control lock, he started by checking the status indicators - not much point in forcing the issue if there was no air on the far side.

Satisfied that he wasn’t going to kill them all off the bat, Giosso pulled the Marine issue multitool out is his vest and got started on the combination unscrewing and prying it took to get the access panel open.

M41A Pulse rifles were light and accurate. Though not nearly the length and weight of a smartgun or as stable given it did not have the carrying arm attached to a harness, it was still an incredibly effective weapon system. Morse had been having to use them off and on throughout his career dependent on what role in a platoon he was filling out. Now that he was back as a Medic it wouldn't due to have him weighed down to an extreme with the Smartgun, so he replaced his ammunition drums with the med kit. He still carried the grenades that he typically carried, but an additional medical pouch was also present on him. He knew how bad injuries got when it came to the things they were there to kill, so he was not going to be taking anything that came close to a chance.

Would he be surprised if they didn't take a single casualty, yes. But he also had a degree of confidence in the team that they were operating with that he did not have with the Eights, a roving batch of non specialized grunts where half were briefed on the real problem of what could happen, and the other half had barely been out of boot long enough to even know what the burners on the dropship smelled like as it left a marine in a combat zone.

He formed up at the door, lights on in preparation for the power to be out. He was not at the point position, instead a few yards back ready for whatever could happen as the hatch opened up.

"If anyone dies in there..." Morse commented as the wizard that was Giosso successfully got to work on the impossible. "Lemme know." Though a rather glib joke, Morse found it appropriate for his returned vocation. After all, he wouldn't want to waste their precious medical supplies.

<Check successful>

Mark's mind started to wander as he pried and disassembled the exterior door controls, taking him back over the rollercoaster transition from the 8s to the Dawgs. Even with all of the peculiar and occasionally "special" missions that the eights had been assigned, his mind had somewhat willfully avoided considering the platoon, and thus himself, as anything outside of a normal USCM unit. The last months had finally stripped him of that illusion.

Giosso's mind snapped back to the here and once he'd finally exposed the panel's underwiring and fished out a particularly robust looking data cable. Not quite a jackpot, but better than a simple hotwire. Flipping through the options on his multi-tool, he quickly stripped the cable and cut in a splice. He hooked the splice up to his datapad, which itself was hooked up to the portable computing module he kept safely padded and buried in his rucksack. He made a few selections on the datapad and waited, then made a couple more. Unlike the Vids would make you think, there wasn't a lot of typing involved in the moment of hacking a system. It had more to do with planning, power, and a few critical decisions. That and luck, there was always an element of luck.

And this time, he was in luck. He had not only regained the regular door control, the system had been hardwired into the local security apparatus - meaning he could use the identification camera to peek inside first. He pulled the image up.

"Chief, I've got an eye inside - you may want to take a look a this, sir. I don't see anything to worry about right on the other side, but this is 100% a research station. It's packed to the walls with equipment and I wouldn't trust anything in there to react well to bullets."

The work that Giosso did was as incredible as ever, just as all of their talents were. In many ways it was a miracle he, like the rest of them, were even still held within the confines of the Colonial Marine Corps. They were all infinitely more valuable to any number of organizations or corporations around the galaxy, and all together they were a considerable waste of talent. Still the work they did right there was nothing less then impressive.

"Must be the right place." Morse commented. "Pop it open'n lets get to workin'." Morse was ready for whatever they were going to do, but given what was suggested as being on the other side... he did not assume it was going to be a clean job.

The room looked clear and James gave the ok to pop the locks. As the door openned a stale air flooded the room. A slightly acrid stench waifed in; a smell familiar to the Marines. Stepping deeper into the room and they located further evidence of the Xenomorphs. Human blood splatter was intermixed with the acidic blood of the Xenos. In particular one large opening that presented a dark abyss.

Perez listened to the briefing informations, but had nothing more to contribute. He knew everything he had to. The Dawgs would be up against the most dangerous species of the man-known universe, once more cleaning up the mess, caused by greedy, profit-orientated suits and their companies. Will they ever learn? No, they won't.

After the briefing was finished, Perez headed to the armory and got busy with the teams weapon's strip and checkout. He concentrated on the job at hand, checking everything twice over. If anyone would buy it, it would not be because of a weapons jam. Pistols, Pulse Rifles, Flamer Units, Smartguns, in that order. Smartguns took the longest time-slot, because of the complex equipment, which was needed to operate them.

He finished just in time to get geared up and the usual business began. Docking with the hatch, while everybody checked everyone else twice over. Chief ordered Giosso to deal with the electronic hatch opening mechanisms. Perez took point at the closed dura-stell door. While Giosso hacked into the system, Perez activated the smartguns electronic tracking system, put the eyepice into place and waited.

The curtain raised and the show began. Giosso dealt with the door, Morse commented as usual, Chief gave the "go" and Perez was first to enter the area behind the hatch. The very first thing he recognized, apart from the constant on-off of some kind of yellow warning lights, was the signature smell of a slight acid stench in the air. Sweeping the barrell fom left to right, the smartguns tracking system did not pick up a valid target. He took quick steps into the room and then he saw it. Familiar acid holes intermixed with human blood and body-parts. Years back on LV-426 the very first sighting gave him the shudder, but now, he was used to it, more or less. And he knew exactly, what had caused it.

"Hey Morse, you might be to late to patch that one up" ... he commented sarcastically.

After taking a further glance, he saw a large opening, caused by acid. Immediately he secured this area by covering it with the smartgun.

"Guys, there is a large opening over here. Can't see a shit in there, though. Somebody should get a tracker going."

Nevertheless he focused on the dark abyss <Roll Awareness - Level Professional>

Sara's large, odd eyes grew even larger at the carnage. Unused to the sight, her hands shook a bit as she brought forth her motion tracker and began to scan for movement.

Samantha just sighed when it became apparent that her question about punching a hole in the place from space and letting vacuum clear out the station was going to be ignored and instead she made sure her Armor was strapped in just right and her Pulse Rifle was ready to rock.....

Walking in formation, keeping her head on a swivel, she stayed alert and frosty....

A loud primeval scream reverbrates through the station. It's pitch low enough it can be felt to the very core of the Marines being. While it doesn't seem to come from any specific location it is obvious that the sound is coming from the direction of the opening in the floor.

"We have movement Sir," Sara Wang called out! "It appears to be six , no make that ten boogies moving into range!"

"Marines, form defensive grid. I want eyes on the hole and our perimeter."

As quickly as they drop into place the first Xenomorph rears up out of the abyss.

Surprised and suspicious about being engaged by the enemy so soon, Sara nevertheless slung her motion tracker and opened fire on the first of the first of the creatures as it appeared.

The station was a mess, no surprise. Thrashed and stained by the massacre that had been, and about to have a new coat of the yellow green and perhaps even red that was already splashed upon the walls. Circuitry was torn to pieces, there was whirring from electronics still attempting to fulfill their meaningless functions crying out for someone to utilize the now vacant stations and systems.

But Marines weren't there to use those systems. By the end of the day it would be a miracle if any of those stations were still able to be manned as they may well have to detonate every inch station in order to ensure that the infestation was under control. Still there was a great risk to the Marines themselves. Yet unlike the Xenomorphs that prepared to rain down upon them, which had only the experience of their short moments of life, and their natural carnal drives, these Marines were experienced warriors who had seen the way they move and were prepared to demonstrate just how outmatched the infestation was.

Regardless, Morse could still feel fear. Fear of what would happen if the blinking motion tracker caught more of them coming. Fear of what it might feel like to have his entire body drenched in acid, and not just a few drops. Fear of what the sensation of complete chest or facial impalement may present itself as. Fear of what bound impregnation and forced carving of the chest as embryo burst out of ones torso and ripped out every vital organ and nerve ending that it touched on its way out.

That fear brought Morse's finger just over his trigger. It brought him to a kneeling position staring down a hallway. If need be he could now roll, and he presented a smaller target should the monsters spew acid from their jagged mouths.

But if there was one thing that modern technology gave them an advantage of, it was firepower. And with an ammo counter reading "99", there was no reason to be conservative given the sheer number of magazines Morse kept loaded on his person simply out of principle.

He checked the motion tracker where it was, got a reading on a position, looked down the hallway, and regardless of being able to see movement began a simple procedure... that was Reconnaissance by Fire.

The firing rounds roared from his weapon in bursts and he directed where he thought he saw movement.

Perez covered the floor opening and Wang got her tracker going. Not a second too soon. First, he heard the sound, branding through the hole like a wave to the shore. It was the signature sound of the most efficienct killing machine, that he knew. And it could mean only one thing. THEY had detected the presence of the Dawgs. It was unbelievable, how sharp their awareness was. If Perez would have been a man of science, he would have been fascinated. But this was not a scientific lession and Perez was a Special-Forces-Grunt and so he was neither fascinated nor frightened. Perez senses and metabolism were boosted up.

Wang reported movement. That was by no means a surprise. Although those creatures were sneaky little bastards, if operating alone, lying still and waiting for or stalking their prey, they tend to use swarm tactics, if they brought their sibblings to the fight. Perez grimazed, as Chief ordered them to back up. Perez did as ordered and got back just in time, as the first creature lunged out of the hole. Several pulse rifle bursts took care of it.

Perez readied the smart gun to take care of the next wave, which would surely pour out of the darkness soon.

Sykes saw the first xenomorph appear and heard the firing begin from the other marines. He readied his flamethrower to hold back any xenos who got close to the unit.

Samantha involuntarily winced as she heard the scream.....and then like clockwork, the motion sensor started going off and sure enough, the Xeno's started swarming forth.....

She raised her Pulse Rifle to her shoulder, took careful aim and fired a burst; switched aim to a second Xeno, fired a second burst; and then turned to check the ceiling, floor and walls to either side, up/down and behind them to ensure they weren't going to be ambushed from a different direction....
