After having fired the grenade and watching Sixtus head toward the other android, Tanya provided some cover for Quinn once the loud blast had gone off. However, seeing the two scientists had her distracted for only a moment as she saw Paulson intercept them.

However, because she saw the other scientists running down the other hall, she looked for any abnormal signatures of anything else down there for a brief time and took out a replacer grenade from her bandolier, loading up the grenade launcher once more.

《Roll awareness》

Turning back to Quinn, she took aim near where the other android had taken cover, waiting to see if he'd pop his head out so she could splatter that one's head open too, though she had faith Quinn would manage well.

Dazed by the grenade's blast wave and smoke, Oksana Arkadeyevna Baraeva stumbled blindly forward, toward what she hoped was safety. She turned the corner and ran into the white-coated back of Rai Navarro, her lab partner. Grabbing his coat for balance, she regained her footing and with Navarro's help, she stepped free and was shocked to find other people in the corridor with them.

People not Terry or Erickson. People not the enforcers that had made the past seven years hell … but just as deadly, should they choose.

Marines!

"Oh, Bozhe!" Oksana cried and coughed past the smoke in her throat. She pushed forward, grabbing the nearest Marine. "Get back, it's coming! Xenomorph. Behind .. behind me—us—."

Oksana waved an arm back the way she and Navarro had come, back into the smoke filling the corridor.

"They're killing us, we can't—It's …," Oksana growled out a frustrated breath, unable to gather her thoughts and her words. She had to warn them, warn them that the monsters she'd … God, it was so hard to think. "Please," she finally said, unable to come up with anything else coherent. She pulled on the Marine's arm. "Please, help us … please … pozhaluysta, pomogite …pomogite …"

Her vision went grey, her knees buckled, and Oksana knew she was going down and there wasn't a thing she could do to stop it.

When he heard "Oh, Bozhe,", Dmitri thought Sokolova was just venting over the jacked up smart gun. He ignored her and kept his eyes focused on the smoky corridor beyond, looking for anything hostile that might come at them. But the Russian words kept coming and under the rasp of a throat abused by smoke, Dmitri realized who the speaker was.

If his head whipped around any faster, it would have spun right the hell off his shoulders.

"SANA?!"

In a flash, Dmitri committed one of the gravest sins a Marine could make: he abandoned his position without orders. But in that moment, he wasn't a Marine, but a grieving husband who'd just found his wife, these seven years missing, presumed dead. He pushed aside everything between him and her and caught her up in a crushing bear hug. Dmitri choked back a sob and just held her, running his fingers through her hair, caressing her face, drinking in the sight of her as if he couldn't believe he held her. Tell me you're here. Tell me you're really here ... or so he wanted to say, but the words just stuck in his throat and it was all he could do to hold her and breathe.

at the first part of the conversation through the coughing and spluttering Paulson managed to hear xenomorph come out of the lady's mouth, "sarge possible unconfirmed xeno contact this lady says killing everyone" paulson reported as calmly as he could, but did not feel, he had heard of these things before like ghost stories to scare and warn the new guys.

suddenly Dimitri rocked up and hammered him out of the way, just as the woman started to jabber in a different language then going very pale and look like collapsing. "need a medic here" Paulson comm'd, he had basic first aid skills but better ask for help early and not need it than wait to long.
Dimitri seemed over wrought and was not making much sense but he gentle caught the woman as she collapsed and lowered her to the ground.
"You" paulson turned to the other person in a lab coat, "you had better speak English and you had better speak fast, xenomorph? big, fast, deadly, acid for blood, kills everything?" Paulson questioned "short answers are fine!"

The situation was escalating rapidly. Without communication with the home base, and trapped inside of the facility Morse was final authority. Fortunately the first line of defense was the strict training regime that all Marines had, which allowed the unit to make the proper calls in discharging smoke and a grenade simultaneously at encroaching attackers. The pressure and heat may be close, but Marines were conditioned to take it. That was not an issue.

A pair of civilians were not attached upon them. Morse did not take them for strictly neutral. Even if they were running it may have been a trick. Years of dealing with Colonial Warfare taught him that. They were just as likely to be a bio hazard as they were a friendly addition. He needed that dealt with immediately, but first there was the combat.

Paulson was already playing friendly with them, and with the situation, he was not going to crush him. "Paulson! Pull'r asses back n' watch em'. Get em' to start babblin shit that makes sense." He graveled harshly. He was not refuting that they could be friendly, but he was not going to let them get the drop on them.

The babbling of a Russian accent was clear in the haze, but through the commotion Morse caught a word.

Xenomorph

"Eyes on!" Morse spat his own weapon hitting his shoulder hard, and his stance being made ready to fire. "Shit's real! Hostile's on us!"

Morse heard their own Russian Marine break ranks, and drop towards one of the civilians.

"Corporal, get the fuck up!" Morse ordered aggressively at Dmitri. "I don't give a shit if that's Mary back from her heavenly journey! It's Fightin' time!"

Morse prepared to fire on entry points and where ever their may have been a point of attack. A single Xenomorph in their line could easily mean the death of two Marines and that would occur in a second.

"Be the best a judges, but if it aint human, make it dead!" Morse finished, squaring off for a fight.

As the order sank in past the waves of joy and relief, Dmitri also became aware of someone tugging and pulling on his arms. It was Oksana and she was starting to thrash, though she made no sound. Dmitri didn't have time to ask her why but instead planted a kiss on her forehead and let her go, scrambling back to his position. There was force in his stride that wasn't there before, a hard tinge of agression in his demeanor that no one had ever seen. Was it really any mystery why? Dmitri made sure Oksana was safe behind them and he got back to the job of killing things.

Oksana didn't have any warning at all before she was caught up in a bear hug by another Marine. After being so long a captive, she reacted without thinking: go limp, don't resist, retreat inside her head until it's over. She'd learned the trick of it, hard won. Nothing would reach her where it mattered but still, the scientist in her couldn't stop observing the details. In the secure fortress of her mind, she dispassionately noted where the hands went, how hard the grip was, where the next move would likely go. Survival turned on the most tiny and inconspicuous things and her vigilance had been honed razor sharp by the capricous abuse of her captors. So even as the man threw himself on her, Oksana observed and reviewed her options.

She replayed the last few seconds and remembered: Sana.

It took another second for her process it, this nonsense sound that sounded familiar ... It was her name, she realized, her head finally catching up. No one called her that. Certainly no one here, because no one knew. The only person who did was ...

Oh GOD!

Oksana thought that she'd become immune to shame and embarrassment. Instead, she was taken by surprise by the overwhelming urge to get away from him. She couldn't bear Dmitri finding out the truth, of learning everything she'd done to live another day, of submission as a slave shackled to a lab and being held hostage by the welfare of everyone in it.

If he knew ...

Her passivity evaporated in a flash and she fought him, trying to break his grip, digging her heels into the deck for leverage, trying to get enough room to kick him where it counted. If she hurt him, she'd apologize later but right now, she couldn't bear to be touched. Right now, getting him off her was the only thing that mattered.

Another male voice started shouting, as insignificant as a mosquito whining in her hear. She felt Dmitri's lips on her forehead and just like that, he was gone. Oksana put her back against the wall and curled up into a ball as tightly as she could, wrapping her arms around her head as she breathed against the adrenaline and recited the periodic table in her head. Hydrogen, atomic number 1, atomic weight 1.00784, 1 electron ... Helium, atomic number 2, atomic weight 4.0026, 2 electrons ...

And so she went through the table, shutting everything out despite her nerves screaming at her to get up, to stay sharp, to watch her back. Her gorge rose, pushing a sob ahead of it but she swallowed both down: if they escaped her lips her disgrace would be complete and dammit, she wouldn't give the Universe that satisfaction.

Tellurium, atomic number 52, atomic weight 127.60, number of electrons per shell: 2, 8, 18, 18, 6 ...
