The thought of leaving the jungle world was a delight to everyone's mind. Morse was growing absolutely sick of being on worlds that were entirely untamed. Though he did not like running around on space stations and in zero gravity situations where a single puncture in a suit or misstep left you dead and frozen in an endless void for all of eternity, the change of pace would be nice. At least he understood those situations a little better then landing on new immense worlds with all sorts of messed up atmospheres and fauna that operated in ways that they could not begin to understand. That was the bothersome point to Morse that was making his career more difficult. He missed days of landing and massacring whatever was ahead of them with raw firepower, and standing over misguided adversaries like gods of destruction.

Those days were fewer and fewer in recent years. It was almost like the policies at home were resulting in poorer funding, fewer recruits, and enemies that were more powerful and bold then they could readily handle.

But those thoughts were few and far between, even if the Corps was an aging animal, it was still the alpha on any battlefield.

Morse entered the mess hall, same as many. The metallic hiss and a grind of his robotic leg clunked on the floor, not concealed by a boot. He war a T-Shirt and pants, but only one boot, letting the robotic foot strike the ground. He rubbed his head moving for the food dispenser, pouring out the fabricated goodness that it had to offer. He slapped it down on a table not so far from Sykes. In the current scheme of things, he was closer in rank and experience to his furthest superior present then he was to the youngest.

That was a strange thought, but days moved on.

Hearing Sykes inquire at the newer arrivals, Morse asked a question of his own.

"You 'member your first drop, Sergeant Major?" Morse asked, trying to muse on his own seeing if he could remember it. It had been so many years that he could hardly comprehend the difference in situation and himself.

Sykes nodded in reply, "How could anyone forget their first drop? Acheron. What a shit-hole. I think you missed most of that one, out with some wound or other. That's where I got my leg ripped up. Still hurts like a bitch sometimes." The reminder of the injury only made him feel his urge more acutely than he already did. That was the injury that got him addicted to morphine, seemingly the only thing that could give him a night's peace. Ever since the crash on Capua, he had needed to go without. After a couple weeks the longing decreased, but it was still present.

Tanya thought about it for a time, though nodded at the request. "Da! Spasibo. And maybe around in an hour or two or something like that. As long as briefing is not today," she responded. "We may want to find somewhere quiet onboard though."
