Turn 11: Reunited

Post by Corporal Hicks » Sun Jun 28, 2020 1:17 am

In the hallway, Morse blasted one alien with his pulse rifle. Lance Corporal Paulson fried the second alien with his reignited flame unit as it lunged forward. The hideous, high-pitched screams of the aliens split the air. First Squad moved forward to the intersection. They flashed their lights around the dark room. They could see the glint of the lights reflecting off xenomorph exoskeletons. There were at least two targets approaching on the left.

Second and Third Squad heard the hiss of another xenomorph from the corner of the room. Samantha Hall and Dimitri Barayev joined fire and killed it. The piercing scream resounded in the dark, cramped room. The screams of Karl Sarafian were silent too. The acid had bathed him completely and now he was dead. Third Squad continued its search to the right while Second Squad doubled back and moved past the reserve generators again. On their left were two signs that indicated male and female bathrooms. Ahead of them they could see the glint of First Squad’s flashlights. “Look out!” shouted the smartgunner, Poole. Second Squad spun and saw an alien emerging from a hallway on the right.

The navy crewmen outside the ship piled into the airlock with Darryl Stark. As soon as atmosphere was restored, they started to strip off his zero-gravity suit. The alien’s blood must have corrosive tendencies because it had begun to eat tiny holes in the strong fabric of the suit. As they stripped the suit away, Knight quickly scanned for injury. It appeared that he had begun to suffer from the exposure to the vacuum. This was a serious injury but not as dramatic as Hollywood might portray it. His skin had red welts in places where the air had leaked out, but his helmet at least had remained on and he had been able to breathe. They found themselves on a freight elevator which was descending. As it reached its destination, the door opened onto a dark but spacious hallway.

as now one of the two men on point Paulson was shocked at how close these creatures had gotten without being detected either visually or electronically. he bearly had time to think about it though as now these hideous abominations where almost on top of him, "burning right side" Paulson called out and paused just long enough to aim and then shoot at the creature slightly to the right.
the fire roared out heading towards the creature but they moved so fast he was not sure if he would hit or not. the creatures exoskeleton lit up and they were suddenly more visible as the flames belched out, the two targets zig zagged around the walls and ceiling making Paulson chase his target he hoped and prayed again that flames would be his saving grace.

Samantha took careful aim at the Xenomorph near them, moved to a position where her shotgun blast wouldn't catch any of her squadmates AND where the blood from the Alien would blow back AWAY from them, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger and then racked the slide to chamber another shell and fired again.

Henniger advanced with Paulson. Paulson lit up the right side of the corridor with his flame unit. Henniger tracked the second impossibly terrifying monster with the barrel of his pulse rifle. There was a fusion reactor to the right of 1st Squad and fuel tanks ahead and to the left.

"Watch that reactor Lance Corporal." He said into his helmet mic.

He let his own primary weapon fall from his grip and hang from it's sling. He drew his sidearm and opened fire on the alien in his lane. He couldn't risk using AP Explosive ammo with the backdrop to his front left and right.

Morse had a sense of satisfaction watching the alien get split to pieces when he opened up on it with his pulse rifle. But just as soon as it came it slipped away on him. There was no telling how bad the situation was in terms of an infestation, and the sheer fact that there were Xenomorphs on the station could they had been nesting for some time. It was impossible to say if this was the bulk of them, or if this was just the first wave... but whatever the case their mission had become extremely dangerous. Far too dangerous to remain separated. Though conventional was such that grouping in tight quarters could be dangerous, the likeliness of an entire squad going down from even one of those things getting too close was very high.

"All teams! Converge on reactor or give us your position!" Morse commanded. "Form defensive lines, and keep eyes on ceilings and dark places... stop lookin' for human targets." Morse suspected mercenaries in the area would be in as much trouble as they were.

Morse then switched his comm over to communicate with Sykes. He stepped away with his weapon still at the ready, but there was no real way to keep the information from 1st squad.

"Sykes, we got Xeno's all over engineering. No tellin' how many. Already takin' casualties. Are we proceedin' on mission or jumpin' ship?"

If he did not get an answer Morse could still make a call, but he was not sure if those in the command tower had a better grasp on the present situation then he did, running and gunning through engineering.

The crackling voice of Sergeant Major Sykes came through the radio. “Negative copy, did you say xenomorphs?” Once Morse had clarified, he heard a pause on the comms before Sykes replied. “Copy that, Staff Sergeant. The mercenaries must have brought them onboard.” Sykes could hardly imagine why. Maybe just to cause chaos and give themselves some cover. But that meant that the mercenaries didn’t come there just to terrorize. They could have just released the xenomorphs and fled if that’s all they wanted. No, they had come on the station and started attacking vital systems. The whole thing just didn’t add up.

“Continue with the objective for now. Evacuation efforts are still under way. We will be the last ones out, and if we don’t save engineering than we won’t be going anywhere. I will inform Commander Zimmerman and make my recommendation that we pull out as soon as possible. Sykes out.”

Sykes sat back in his chair and considered what all this could mean. It would explain why the living quarters had gone black after confused and terrified messages. The xenomorphs would be searching for somewhere to set up a nest. But he knew Morse was right; this mission had turned into a shit-show and they were all going to die if they didn’t pull out soon.

"Well, shit." Morse muttered to himself away from his mic. He had a feeling that the order would be to proceed on mission, but at the present he was not sure exactly what the chances were of them actually making it happen. It just depended on how many of the things there were, and how long it would take the engineers to do their work. Morse gripped his weapon again with both hands and scanned the room.

"Roger, were workin' on it." Morse replied to Sykes.

Morse then looked around for any more targets and at the engineering that was all around them. No where in his training was there anything remotely close the operation of these giant machines... just the capacity to destroy them and kill everyone that knew how. This was a bit out of his wheelhouse, especially since they were working to escort, but Morse would get the job done and so would the marines.

"I need those engineers workin' on whatever the fuck they do! Now. Get a pair of marines on each of them and get them to stop shivverin' and start turnin' or crankin' or whatever the fuck they do! We gotta get outa here an hour ago! Let's move!"
