Turn 5 - Overwhelming Force, Squad 3,4

Post by Corporal Hicks » Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:52 pm

The Marines opened fire from the roof in unison. The mercenary on the right hand fell to the ground instantly, his head blown off by a burst of pulse rifle. Whether Sykes or Mills had killed him was unclear. Bennett’s smartgun belched out fire but did not hit its target at this extreme range. The remaining two hostiles began to make their way up the hill toward the HIMAT and the snipers.

Sokolova called the shot and Vasilev fired. The first shot was somewhat nervous and he missed his mark by a few feet. The enemy raised his rifle and fired up at the pair on their cliff-face and they tried to take shelter from the rounds pinging around them. Sokolova thought she felt an impact on her helmet but couldn’t be sure.

The HIMAT fired, lighting up the whole battlefield for two seconds. In that moment, McKenna took his aimed shot. The left-hand mercenary that was firing up at the snipers fell with a dozen bullets in him. Then the missile struck its target and the APC exploded like the Fourth of July. The sound erupted above the patter of rain and gunfire and even at a great distance the Marines could feel the heat wave on their faces.

The final enemy soldier was running up the hill now to escape the fire from the building behind him. Private Cain Fernsby looked over the top of his cover and took a hit from the oncoming foe. He fell backward, howling and gurgling with pain. When Davros looked over at him, he saw a spurt of blood and it seemed to be pouring from the gaps in his armor. The blood was mixing with the mud and the rain in a horrific scene that seemed to play itself in slow motion before Davros’ eyes. Fernsby was down and the hostile was drawing near.

Sokolova realized since the shot missed, she'd better get her head down before it's too late. Feeling a little bit of the turbulence down on her helmet as she was ducking, she flinched for a moment, but realized she was still alive. Taking up her rifle with her head down, she took aim until she noticed the man shooting at her had already fallen at that point. However, looking around and checking on the other enemy soldier coming toward her squad, she whistled over to Vasilev to take the shot at the man whilst herself pulling out her rifle and taking aim, given his distance getting closer to her squad, though she saw the unthinkable happen, noticing Fernsby taking a few hits. She immediately called on her radio to her squad, "Davros! Fire at will. We get him patched up once hostiles are taken out!"

Taking some of this into her hands as well, just to pin the enemy down, she took a single shot toward the enemy soldier with her rifle, hoping the dart would either hit directly or near enough to have the concussion bring down the enemy solder. Once she thought she had acquired a good enough view of the man, she fired.

Clint saw the remaining soldier making a rush towards 4th squad. He lined his sights up on the lone soldier and fired.

Mills was stunned by how fast the noise in the area turned from eerily quiet, to the hellish cries of the heavy weaponry around him. It took him only a split second to catch his bearings, then he proceeded to unload his gun into the shadows blending into the darkness around him.

The remaining enemy soldier was shot multiple times, falling to the ground and bleeding out of multiple wounds. Cain Ferensby was also down, still bleeding. The enemy APC was destroyed by the second HIMAT rocket impact.

But the soldiers of third and fourth squad did not have time to relax. They could see movements inside the personal terminal (remember: one chinese soldier slipped into the building at the very first). It looked like someone chased another smaller person. Muffled cries for help could be heared from inside the building. These sounds come from floor 2, western part.

Sergeant Major Sykes watched the last enemy drop. "Lance Corporal Sokolova, report," he ordered through the mic. "If you are secure, we are entering the building. Provide overwatch."
<Tag Sokolova>

Sykes scanned his eyes across the roof, looking for any weakness or anything else. He noticed something that looked like an access point, but he wasn't about to go waltzing down the stairs into whatever traps were set for them. "McGreggor, I want a breaching charge right here. Once it blows, we clear the interior from every visible angle. Then we are dropping in. McKenna, you and me will be first in. Mills and Bennett in support. McGreggor, cover our tails. Understood?"
<Tag 3rd Squad>

As he watched McGreggor setting the demo charge, Danny radioed the other squads and asked for a sit rep. McGreggor stepped back and nodded. Sykes raised three gloved fingers in the air for the whole squad to see. He lowered them one by one... Three... Two... One... POW! A section of roof crumbled with a sharp bang and he immediately moved up to scan anything visible inside the building, his finger on the trigger.

Davros popped up from behind cover ready to fire "HaHA get some!! Oh! He looked pleasantly surprised as he watched the many holes begin to riddle the last hostile outside the compound. Ducking back into cover he switch modes in his mind to the more serious health care personnel. Cam'ear Fensby lets see if we can plug up those holes. Davros sets to work inspecting the wounds, and stripping off the armor where necessary. Davros pulled his medical bag to the front where he could root through it for whatever supplies he needed. <Medical aid expert>

Davros wipes his forehead leaving a small smear of not his blood, he surveyed his work. He managed to staunch the blood flow from the bullet holes, and bind up the wound with a nice combination of bandages, ace rolls and tape to keep it secure without too much pressure. He double and triple checked the iv to make sure it was running properly adding to Fensby's now lower blood volume. He Secured whatever limbs were necessary to help Fensby not reopen his wounds. Davros squawks in to his mic, "You guys see anyone else keep their asses off me while I take care of our wounded duckling."

Lance Corporal Sokolova listened in on the radio to Sykes, then responds back in her accent, "Da, understood. Only one problem. Fernsby was hit. I'll have Davros get to it. We'll give support fire as needed if we see a clear shot. Just let us know where third squad is so we niet hit them." She then directly switched to speaking to Davros. "Davros, if you have not already, go ahead and work on Fernsby. We take care of sniping until you are ready. If you need help stabilizing him, let me know. Understood?"

<Tag Sykes, Davros>

Taking out her binoculars again as she goes low, her face close to the brush and dirt, she looks toward the building, scanning the windows for the larger figure. She gives a look to Vasilev, taking the binoculars away from her eyes only to stare at him for a few seconds before looking back to the windows. "Vasilev, if you see a larger figure in the windows, take the shot, da? Just listen in if they give a report so we don't hit third squad."

<Roll awareness>

Bringing up her gun, she raises up her gun once more, just in case they run into any more hostility nearby.

Clint heard the sergeant's orders and nodded his understanding. He took the opposing side from Sykes so that they could try and visually clear as much area as possible.Mills and Bennett took opposing sides from one another while McGreggor prepared the charge. Clint could feel a rise of adrenaline, breaching usually meant combat was coming soon. He watched as Sykes began dropping fingers, and watched the area that would soon become a void into the building. POW!
