Turn 6 - 1st Squad

Post by Corporal Hicks » Sat Mar 20, 2021 11:39 pm

Golf Level:

First Squad entered the Starboard side of the Quantum Herald. They found themselves on one of the middle levels of the vessel as the ship had settled partially into the seabed. Once the Marines and the mini-subs were in the airlock, they sealed it behind them. The pressurized water slowly went down as the artificial atmosphere systems battled the unfamiliar element. Eventually, it was as low as it was going to get and the vents gave up. The whole ship was listing about 30 degrees to starboard so the water pooled on the starboard side of the room.

The four Marines exited the empty lifepod chamber. They found themselves in a hallway that had numerous doors along the walls. At a glance, they looked like personnel quarters, with small, personalized items and messages on the doors. Toward the middle of the ship were cargo crates and between them were two gaps that spanned every floor of the ship. If the Marines looked down, they would see a forty foot drop to the bottom level, where more cargo crates and forklifts lay scattered about.

Paulson stept out through the now open door of the sub then the crew member closed it behind him, the helmet gave good visibility but not as good as if it wasnt on, he currently held two weapons waiting for his squad mate to come get it, his breathing echo'd throughout his helmet, slightly fast and shallow Paulson forced himself to relax. "Paulson on baord all clear so far"

Clint felt the weight of the suit increase as the water level dropped back down, for the most part, he thought looking at the remaining pooled water left inside. He walked over to the mini sub that Morse had been in and pulled out his equipment bag and weapons. Figuring on tight corridors, he slung the sniper rifle down his back and had the shotgun out and ready as they opened the door onto a hallway with scattered debris strewn about the floor. "Which direction you wanna go Sarge?" Clint asked over the comms as the squad prepared to enter the corridor.

As the marines of 1st Squad disembarked, Morse was immediately alerted to the listing ship. In space they could have artificial gravity work all day, but down on the seabed where there was actual gravity was causing a sort of... slanted situation. That was not a good in the long run in terms of general orientation, but it was workable. Morse looked about, and was not entirely certain which way they should be moving. He was not familiar with the ship layout and considered.

"That way I think." Morse pointed ahead and was ready to take the lead. As they began their short movement there was suddenly the sound over the radio of hostilities elsewhere.

Morse's eyes rolled. The easy walk in and out seemed immediately off the table.

"Do you need 1st to move in to assist?" Morse called over the radio. Though he was not one hundred percent sure where they were, he'd have find the way if they needed to provide fire.

"1st, keep eyes ready. Sounds like there's shootin' to be done."

Davrose grabbed his equipment that Paulson brought out of the mini-sub. "Thanks Sarge. Did they remember my Pepsi? No? See this is why I don't like the drive-Thru, they never get the order right."
<tag Paulson>
He Strapped on his medic bag and made sure it was secure, several times. Checked his gun, extra mags, and flicked off the safety, good trigger discipline was always best anyway. As the water finished receding he was reminded of an old school toilet. "What way do you think the water spins in the bowl down here?"
He lightly chuckled.
The crackle of gun fire and orders being barked came squawking over the radio. He heard Morse talk over the radio. He heard Morse say "1st, keep eyes ready. Sounds like there's shooting to be done."
He made sure one last time he was ready. "Whose point man? Lets keep an eye on these crew rooms as we go, would really hate for anyone to jump our ass like a little dog."

“Affirmative, requesting assistance if possible,” came the voice of Sykes through the radio. First Squad made their way through the corridors and into the cargo room. Cargo crates were stacked or scattered about the room which had two large openings in the floor and ceiling. Apparently this was a cargo ship and the cargo shuttles were able to take on cargo from any level via these openings.

Paulson peered over the guard rail and down the port opening. He saw a battle ensuing several decks below them and called it out to the rest of the squad. More and McKenna also looked down and witnessed several figures in grey uniforms. These were apparently fighting with the Marines who were identifiable by their pressure suits. One of the hostiles was driving a forklift toward them, and it was spewing sparks from a flat tire. Another was grappling with someone in a hard suit, apparently swinging some kind of melee weapon at the Marine.

Lance Corporal Davros was watching their tails when he almost tripped over a girl, in her late teens or early twenties. She saw him and squealed in fear. Curling up she covered her head as if he was about to strike her. “Please, please, no!” she pleaded with him.

After hearing the call for assistance from 2nd and 3rd squads, first hurriedly made their way into a massive cargo hold. Moving somewhat uphill towards the port side, Clint peered through a chainlink fence somewhere between 6 and 8 feet tall separating the hold from the drop down to lower levels. He swapped weapons over to the sniper rifle in the still awkward feeling suit and tapped a button on the scope to link the scope optics to his in helmet optic. The subject with a melee weapon was in too close to fellow marines to be an effective and safe shot, but the forklift should be easy enough to deal with. "Going to work on stopping that dozer lift" Clint called on the squad channel. He lined up the scope crosshairs over the engine compartment and put 3 rounds down range in a matter of seconds towards his target.

Paulson was confused as hell, what was going on with these civilians didn't they know a good rescue when they saw one?
from up here restraining was going to be impossible and he had no less than lethal options.
Paulson checked his motion detector to make sure there was nothing on this level with them and began to look for another way down.
